AGO Industry Night-Baillie Court Event Venue
On Thursday, March 26th, the AGO Events team held an “Industry Night” showcasing the AGO and the Baillie Court. The Baillie Court was in full bloom with florals by Stemz, furniture rentals by Contemporary Furniture Rentals, linens by Micki’s Event Fabrics, staffing by The Butler Did It, event rentals by Chair-man Mills, valet service by Northern Valet and DJ by Michael Coombs Entertainment.
Their dedicated catering team was led by Chef Annick Le Goaix, whose creations were artful and modern. My favourite dish of the night had to be the dessert station, as they were rich, divine and too many to choose from! The Baillie Court is a vast venue that can hold up to 700 guests comfortably, has stunning 18-foot high ceilings and panoramic view of downtown Toronto. The Ballie Court was truly transformed into a work of art on this night!
But the fun did not end there, when you hold a wedding, birthday or corporate affair at the Ballie Court, you can arrange for your guests to have private tours of any of the exhibits at the AGO. We were fortunate enough to take a two tours, one of the currently featured “Jean-Michel Basquiat: Now’s the Time” exhibit running from February 7th to May 10th, 2015, and another private tour of the Group of Seven exhibit. Unfortunately you cannot take any pictures or videos of the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibit, as it is exclusive. Taking pictures or videos does vary from exhibit to exhibit, so ask your guide ahead of time.
While wandering around the exhibits, we stumbled across the Espresso Bar in Galleria Italia. It is a stunning room with a great view of Toronto. While it was closed, our guide told us that it does offer a variety of European-inspired pastries, desserts, beverages, Italian sodas and of course, gelato.
Our guide then took us to Walker Court, featuring the iconic Frank Gehry – designed feature staircase, along with its glass ceiling; the room is bright and spacious for any occasion. We were told this room was very popular for weddings as it can seat 120 people comfortably for an intimate dinner or up to 450 guests for a wedding reception. It’s kind of funny, I have not been to the AGO for quite some time, only to find out it has so much to offer. It also has smaller rooms for private venues, fantastic cuisine and unique art experience for your guests.
