Art With Heart, the annual Canadian art auction fundraiser for Casey House, was held at The Carlu last Tuesday, October 6.

Over the past 22 years, over 6 million dollars has been raised for Casey House, which was the first dedicated HIV/AIDS hospice in Canada.

Funds raised have gone to help those living with HIV/AIDS by providing home care, social work and therapeutic services, and more.

Casey House is in the midst of a $10 million Rebuilding Lives Capital Campaign to support the purchase of property to build a new 58,000 sq ft modern health care centre. The new facility will help those who urgently need greater care as well as offer a Day Health Program as an alternative to hospital and ER admissions.

Some of the artists whose works were in the auction included: Adad Hannah (Harlequin Interrupted), Kristina Burda (Grape/Gold), Kim Dorland (FUKD, which was auctioned off at $23,000!), Jeanie Riddle (Gospel), Douglas Coupland ( Kodak Montecristos), Alex Bierk (Love and Tolerance #2), and Jane Sterbak (Generic Man).

There were so many incredible pieces reflecting the enormous talents of Canadian artists.

The catering by Daniel et Daniel was delicious. Guests feasted on grilled quail, roasted cauliflower, bao, carraway salmon, Mexican chicken, and frites.

Among the guests was top male model Paul Mason.
