Cuisine & Cuvée 2019 Annual fundraiser for Providence Healthcare
Cuisine & Cuvée annual fundraiser took place at REBEL event space on Toronto’s waterfront on May 31, 2019, and featured the latest in culinary trends with 35 gourmet food purveyors; chefs, caterers, distilleries, bakeries, and breweries. Cuisine & Cuvée is an annual fundraiser for Providence Healthcare. The event is a “celebration of food, wine and laughter” and also a celebration of the strength of the people who use the resources of Providence Healthcare.
Providence Healthcare helps people rediscover their inner strength, and the fundraiser brought together 50 corporate sponsors in support of this worthy cause.
The featured item in the Silent Auction was a stunning 18K white gold necklace with a 1.84 ct. Diamond at its centre. The appraised value of this piece of jewelry was $33,000, which is why it came with its own security guard! Other featured silent auction items included a Food Dudes dinner for 8, a Synchros mountain bike and a Toronto Police Dog Experience. In total, the Silent Auction raised $41,760!
Food stations were set up around the perimeter of the dance floor at Rebel, and the most popular from the start was the fresh oysters and shrimp provided by The Shore Club.
Next door, the Jack Daniels BBQ Ribs by Jawny Bakers were also leaving the station quickly. My personal favourite was the potato gnocchi prepared by Kanvas Private Chef. They were flavourful in a creamy mushroom sauce. Outside on the patio, Chef Luciano Schipano was cooking a risotto with mushrooms and truffle in a large saucepan over an open flame. Wines by Cornerstone Winery, Pelee Island Winery, and Rolling Grape Winery were an excellent accompaniment for the risotto.
For those that prefer something stronger, Boodles Gin, Ron Legendario Rum, and Tomatin Scotch Whiskey could fill the bill.
Listro Entertainment took the stage at 6:30 pm with Neon Nostalgic starting at 10 pm. Before I left I sampled the dessert options at Cuisine & Cuvée; an amazing lemon tart from Tartistry, baklava from Select Bakery and an Oreo ice-cream created on the spot using liquid nitrogen by Ice Volcano Ice-cream.
