DAYBREAKER TORONTO: DANCE DANCE RESOLUTION 2017
Last Wednesday , we shook and danced out our new year’s resolutions over the Portland Room at The Spoke Club, for a “DANCE DANCE RESOLUTION,” presented by Daybreaker Toronto. To attend the event, which was held on Wednesday on January 11(1-1-1 for a new start), we woke up early in the morning to head to King Street West in Downtown Toronto and started our day with an hour session of yoga at 6 am led by yoga instructor, Kay. Kay gave an incredibly fun and giggly yoga session and later even performed a dance for everyone, a woman of many talents. During the yoga session, she had everybody stretching and challenged them to find a partner to team up with to see who can hold a pose the longest by leaning on each other’s backs in a sitting position. The winners were rewarded a book called “The Five Minute Journal”: the secret to focus on the good in your life as their prize.
At the end of the session we had a little intermission at the snack bar for some refreshments provided by Smart Water, Vitamin water, Station Cold Brew Coffee, and healthy, gluten-free granola bars by KIND.
From 7-9am, we got to start the party for
‘DANCE DANCE RESOLUTION”! DJ Dirty Dale provided music and entertainment. There was also a station for people to get airbrush tattoos and face paint provided by the party painters. Joining in on the fun, we circle danced and conga lined through and around the floor while appreciating the performances and a parade led by Graham, Ted, and Tom. We even gathered together to sing happy birthday for those who were celebrating their special day.
At the end of the event, we recited a quote by Steve Maraboli: “Live your truth, Express your love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. Dance and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering.”
– a positive message which we can spread to our friends and loved ones
We were also treated to a special performance by harp player, Miranda from The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, with two musical numbers. It was delightful and a nice way to kick start our day/year before we all went our separate ways and went to work.
Overall, we had fun and definitely would recommend friends to come and experience what it’s like to stretch and get their dance on first thing in the morning!
