To mark the twenty-fifth annual Inside Out LGBT Film Festival in Toronto as well as the premier of the lesbian comedy “Fresno”, a women’s gala reception was held at The Richmond at 477 Richmond Street West on May 23, 2015.

Both the director Jamie Babbit (But I’m A Cheerleader, Itty Bitty Titty Committee) and the writer Kery Dornetto (Portlandia, Community) were in attendance.

Fresno tells the story of two sisters living in Fresno, growing and learning together as they try to dispose of the body of a guest who was accidentally killed by Shannon (the older sister) when her sex addiction relapses.

The loft-like event space was filled with women (and some men) who appreciate new queer cinema, enjoying mixed drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres, and moving to the tunes by Vee Stun.

A surprise burlesque show rounded off the evening.
