Interior Design Show 2018 (IDS18)

The Interior Design Show (IDS) is an annual celebration of the best of design in Canada and internationally. The 20th annual event #IDS18 brought together industry and design lovers showcasing the hottest new products and the opportunity to learn the latest design trends. This year’ event was held from January 18-21 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The IDS Opening Night Party this year was entitled The Future Fantastic (presented by PurParket and The Globe and Mail), and it was a party not to be missed. Over 5,800 guests got a first chance to see the show floor. Walking through, there was so much to explore. Hanstone Canada‘s Hanstone Lodge was a tribute to the Canadian wilderness. Guests got to enjoy artisan cheese wrapped in maple syrup on ice. Ceasarstone‘s Altered States by Snarkitecture engaged social posts with a donation to FogQuest that provides clean water in rural communities. The Future Fantastic light displayed motion triggered For entertainment, there were performances by Harrison and Friends and Ralph and DJ from Bellosound,
There was plenty of food supplied by restaurants, Tabule, The Pint, Moustache Burger, Flor De Sal, Mangia and Bevi, Hot Bunz, Paint Box, Ace Bakery, Solenzi, Arepa Cafe and Fit Organix. There was much to drink from vendors Mill St. Brewery, St Ambrose Scotch Ale, Cowbell Brewing, Ace Hill, Black Cow Vodka, Great Lakes Brewery, Big Rock Brewery, Beatties Farm Brewing, Buffalo Trace and Just Craft Soda, Seedlip, Pommies Cider, Buffalo Trace Whiskey, Meiomi Wines, LeftField Wines, Pelee Island Winery, Wolfhead Distillery, Southern Comfort, Kinsip, and False Ox Botanicals.
This year’s Guest of Honour was the design team of George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. Yabu Pushelberg, with offices in Toronto, New York, has worked on the interiors for Four Seasons (Toronto and Tokyo), W Hotel (NYC), St. Regis Hotel (San Francisco and Bal Harbour) and for Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co, and Barneys. They have been awarded Officers of the Order of Canada.
Friday’s Professional Trade Day was sponsored by Miele. There were the Azure Trade Talks from Michael Ford, Jay Osgerby, and Alex Mustonen. There were Trade Day Seminars with John Filomena, John Lockhart, Erika Floysvik, Donna Church, Andria Cowan Molyneaux, David Hoffman, Marcia O’Connor, Valerie Johnston, Arren Williams, Shai DeLuca, Sharon Grech, Tyler Gilchrist, Martina Kucey, Corey Klassen and Laura Beauparlant

Globe and Mail Saturday featured Keynote talks with George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, Shauna Levy, President of Canada’s Design Museum, Design Exchange), Marc Ryan, principal and co-founder of Public Work, Jonathan Friedman of Partisans , Jonathan Nordrick, Kathryn Ireland, David Maciulis, Desta Ostapyk, Richard Librach and Globe and Mail Editorial Director, Andrew Sardone.

House and Home Sunday had Keynote Talks with House and Home founder Lynda Reeves and designers Brian Gluckstein and Karim Rashid, Beth Hitchcock with Tommy Smythe and Richard Ouellette.
