Interior Design Show 2019 Opening Night Party – Metro Toronto Convention Centre
The Interior Design Show (IDS) 2019 Opening Party, dubbed “the biggest design party of the year” was held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Thursday, January 17, 2019. It brought together over 6,000 design lovers for a night of fun and celebration. The theme for this twentieth anniversary was we are all “Better Together.” Well known fashion designer Zac Posen, created a custom front panel for GE Monogram Fridge and showed his cooking skills by preparing flatbread pizzas at the Opening Night Party.
Visitors could take a break from the vendor’s booths by experiencing Haven, an airy pop-up in the shape of billowing clouds by Tangible Interaction. Another popular installation was Great Lakes Cabin, a full-scale concept house. The Backcountry Hut Company conceived a modern interpretation of rural wilderness living and Canadian outdoor culture in thus 670 square foot abode.
Ontario Wood presented a structure made of standard pieces of lumber that are easy to erect, dismantle and relocate within a forest designed by Izen Architecture. Well-known artists, designers, and architects could tour the latest products and get inspiration from the exhibitors. The fun-loving Scottish pair Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan, Collin and Justin, of the new TV series Great Canadian Cottages were seen partaking at the bar and food stations themselves. Some of the sponsors for this year’s event were Azure, Caesarstone, House & Home, Miele, PurParket, The Globe & Mail and Volvo.
