How do you mix Jazz with social responsibility? Well, JPEC and Paintbox Bistro have figured it out. Paintbox is a new restaurant in Regent Park that operates with a social mandate to provide job opportunity training in the community. It’s also a venue that caters to the jazz lover in you. While you are enjoying dinner at Paintbox, music and sultry sounds fill the room and tantalize your ears, a perfectly spent evening on a Saturday night.
Jazz Performance and Education Centre (JPEC), a not-for-profit charitable organization, offers several performances from both local and international well-known Jazz artists. January 11th, Randy Weston was the first performer from the series offered. Randy Weston is a New York jazz pianist that incorporates a mixture of African rhythmic elements with jazz technique that fuses into a fresh and inventive beat.
