captFE attended the Legends of Horror preview at Casa Loma, and it was a fun and scary experience.
The grounds of Casa Loma never looked spookier on this rainy evening as we walked along the 1.5 km windy pathway around the castle. Monsters, zombies, werewolves greeted us at every turn. Sometimes a still piece of the earth wasn’t still after all. The trees are even more boding, with the lighting, the sound effects and all the outdoor visuals including the 3D projection on the castle’s exterior which are simply perfect.
We kept walking up and around, winding our way through the castle’s tunnels and darkest spaces never before open to the public. And then we met Dracula, who stood outside, guarding his lair. The castle had fantastic 3D projections on it featuring our favourite vampire, eyeballs, and Captain Morgan.
Halfway through the tour, we were back in the basement of the castle forsome delicious Captain Morgan drinks and rest. Nothing like sipping a drink to recover from being frightened. Then we continued with the second part of the tour, going through the castle’s secret tunnels and darkest spaces never before open to the public. The tunnels are dark, and the projections make it even eerier. We wounnd up in the coach house, where Dracula welcomed us inside. We then meet Frankenstein, who is risen up in the air. And then Dracula motions us away, shutting the doors behind us. We just barely survived the night.
This is the inaugural year for the Legends of Horror. At the after party, Liberty Entertainment Group‘s President & CEO, Nick Di Donato explained that the idea had started 2 years ago and approximately $1.5 million dollars was spent to create the vision. Forty technicians have worked on the project. Liberty Entertainment Creative Director Nadia Di Donato leads the design team, and the result is almost magical. Di Donato described it as “Halloween for the Masses.” And that captures the spirit of Legends of Horror.

Legends of Horror continues through to Oct 31 at the Casa Loma, and is absolutely worth going for a memorable Halloween.
