Last Thursday, May 26, 2016, Mariposa Cruises kicked off its 29th season of cocktail cruises, sunset dinners, and special events on the harbour of Toronto’s revitalized waterfront. Docked in Queens Quay, Mariposa Cruises offered the media and VIPs an exclusive experience on the Northern Spirit to mix and mingle. Attendees were provided with live music, fun, and entertainment while cruising by Toronto’s iconic skyline.

Awaiting guests are in for a treat this year to experience an inspired view of the city Mariposa Cruises provides with special live entertainment and dedicated DJs aboard. Patrons can create special memories on the water for weddings, family reunions, and spontaneous dates. With their line of 6 ships, Mariposa Cruises certainly has something very exciting to offer for the summer.

First let’s start with the Northern Spirit, a crowd favourite for private events. The Northern Spirit (575 passengers) is known for its high-profile functions and was the star setting of Masterchef Canada‘s recent episode (April 2015) called Wedding on the Waves. The ship is a comfortable choice for entertaining large groups.

The Rosemary (45 passengers) is an ideal venue for an intimate gathering. Passengers are pampered by the crew and catered to by Rosemary‘s executive chef.

Newly renovated in 2013, the Showboat (140 passengers) is equipped with climate-controlled dining deck, a multi-deck sound system, fresh dining room décor and a vintage vibe with modern features that brings the southern charmer like the musical of the same name.

Toronto’s biggest luxury ship, Captain Matthew Flinders (575 passengers), named after navigator Captain Matthew Flinders, has three spacious outer decks for guests to admire the view. These decks have hosted a number of notables and events, from golfer Arnold Palmer to the Stanley Cup itself.

The Klancy II (100 passengers) is ideal for small weddings and business functions with BBQs available on the upper deck.

The Oriole (182 passengers) is perfect for clients who are looking for a one-of-a-kind venue for mid-sized events and functions. This ship also hosts Mariposa’s daily Harbour Tour program.

Looking forward to this year’s programming, Mariposa Cruises offers many activities to create those special memories. Some of the best summers nights in Toronto will happen at Weekday Slip & Sail cruise where guests can pick up a boarding pass aboard the Oriole for the ultimate patio drinks. Imagine happy hour on a boat with a DJ spinning soul and lounge music, the best views of the Toronto skyline, a full bar, and appetizers available for purchase.

Weekend Brunch Cruise is the most magical choice for brunch. Aboard a Mariposa Cruises’ yacht, the cruise includes a market-fresh buffet- style brunch and a cash bar. A similar option to the weekend brunch cruise, the Weekday Lunch Cruise is a two-hour lunch cruise featuring buffet-style meal which includes delicious appetizers, fresh salads, BBQ and a cash bar.

A Sunset Dinner Cruise takes passengers on a picturesque three-hour tour of the waterfront. Guests of this cruise can enjoy modern cuisine, DJ, and dancing.

To finish, Scenic Toronto Harbour Tours takes guests aboard the Oriole for a 45-minute multilingual narrated tour of Toronto’s harbour and beautiful city skyline including the CN Tower, Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, and the Toronto Island waterways. With Mariposa Cruises’ new and exclusive GPS technology, the Scenic Toronto Harbour Tours are available in English, Spanish, French and
Mandarin, the tour is the first of its kind in Toronto.
