Power Ball 2014 at the Power Plant – Old/New World
Another year of the highly anticipated Power Ball brought together Toronto’s most stylish and artsy socialites at the Power Plant to both raise money for the Power Plant, Canada’s leading contemporary art gallery; and to celebrate the Old / New World, the revolutionary moment in time when digital technology developed from an analogue world and transformed art, fashion music and food.
VIPs were treated to a private performance entitled Gramophinca by Naomi Kashiwagi, an award-winning English British artist.
A BYOB exhibition featured several artists’ works projected on a wall. Other participating artists who showcased their incredible works included New York-based artist duo CONFETTISYSTEM, global artist Christine Davis, multi-media and performance artist Oli Sorenson, and award-winning Montréal artist Jon Rafman. We sensed Rafman’s humour while checking out his titillating dummies, accompanied by a jar of Vaseline.
The gala saw a number of notables including CTV’s Cynthia Mulligan, actresses Lara Jean Chorostecki and Ann Pirvu join a host of others on the dance floor! To embrace the “Old/New World” theme, guests showed up in stunning outfits from the past to the future.
Don Julio, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray No.10 and Ciroc each created a list of exquisite cocktails; it was hard to try every one of them without getting a little bit tipsy.
Outside on the patio guests helped themselves to the hot dog station with tons of help-yourself toppings while appreciating the lakeside view; and of course, they did not forget to grab a few bags of Allan SAYBON candies before leaving.
