In Review – 2014 Acura RLX ELITE with Precision All Wheel Steer (P-AWS)
At first glance, the RLX is a sleek looking car, but it’s the lights that grab your attention.
The new Jewel Eye LED headlights and LED taillights are a nice touch.
Having said that the car does not look that big on the outside, it is surprising how much room there is on the inside. Especially in the backseat, those 6” feet and over will have more than enough leg room. The trunk space is more than adequate and can fit two golf bags comfortably.
Under the hood, it comes with a 310-hp, 3.5-litre, and 24-valve i-VTEC V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management engine technology. The advantage of this new technology is that you can switch off two or three cylinders for a more conservative drive. As a result, it has an impressive rating of 10.5 / 6.4 / 8.6 L/100km (city/highway/combined).
This model starts off in the low $60’s and comes with the following features:

• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow

I was quite surprised how the RLX performed, handling and cornering were quite responsive with the lightest of touch, thanks to the P-AWS. Combined with a gentle and refined acceleration, it felt like I was driving a much smaller car.
Now when I picked up this car it was -40 °C outside, so the heated steering wheel and seats were a welcome touch. The exterior noise is kept to a dull roar, and the interior is luxurious and well appointed. The Krell sound system is simply amazing! With 14 well-placed speakers and superior sound system, I suggest that you turn it up to fully appreciate what this system can do.
I love of the tech gadgets the RLX comes with. With the navigation displays much bigger, the touch screens more responsive, the traditional buttons were unnecessary. The learning curve on the new tech functionality was minimal.
The RLX is equipped with the AcuraLink connectivity system, which has tons of security embedded two-way communications and web-enabled devices, such as a stolen vehicle tracking and security alarm notification.
Another cool feature is the AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with the all-new surface street traffic information.
The RLX reclaims itself as the flagship bearer of the Acura lineup, and this car is a step in the right direction. It comes with a ton of cool new features, along with performance and handling. It is definitely a car worth checking out!
