Scotiabank Buskerball 2013 at Mattamy Centre

This fun and funky fundraising event started on the upper level of the stadium with a selection of bite size appetizers, and two great Canadian classics: gravy covered poutine and pea meal bacon on a bun!
After a couple of glasses of wine and registration for the live auction, attendees descended into the lower level of the facility to experience the main event hosted by Andria Case of CTV news, with the live auctioneers (and event designers) Jamie Alexander and Glen Peloso. This sneak peek in what this year’s Buskerfest had to offer included Turbo Street Funk, Catwall Acrobats and Stilt dancer and friends. The location for this year’s Buskerfest is also new, centred on the intersection of Yonge and Dundas streets. Coconut curry chicken prepared by Salad King, a Yonge St. icon, and Jack Astor’s pulled pork bun were food favorites’ at Buskerball 2013. The long line for the amazing desserts supplied by Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens was well worth the wait with at least three different kinds of chocolate cakes! Although I was less than enthusiastic upon hearing that Fireball Whiskey was a sponsor, their suggested cocktail of Fireball Whiskey and cranberry juice grew on me. At the end of the evening I lovingly named it ‘Hot Lips’ as it reminded me of a classic childhood candy (without the alcohol!)
