S/He Thrives is an initiative, founded by Alicia Vianga, (who also started the charity, After Breast Cancer), which annually honours 12 breast cancer ambassadors. For the first time, there is one male ambassador, Todd Herzog, bringing attention that breast cancer affects both genders.

This year’s participants included Annie Parker, Susan Fulford, Lynn Manwar, Melissa Frew, Diane Dupuy, Seema Gill, Pamela Greiner-Labelle, Catherine McCormack, Grace John, Cathy Drago, Shirley Scott, and Todd Herzog. Each ambassador was styled and dressed for their glamour photos, taken by their own personal photographer. The images will be used in the 2016 After Breast Cancer Calendar.

The photographs were taken at Casa Loma and ambassadors were styled by celebrity stylist, Dale Hodder-Elad of Shut Up and Dress Me. Clothing was provided by Christopher Paunil, Christian, Gente, Carmen, Belo boutiques, LA Scala Men’s Wear and Fredas boutique. Jewellery was from Dasha Klymenko and J Arends Designs. Makeup and hair styling were by Shirley Wu and her team from Beauty Concepts. All of these were donated for the event.

FE spoke with breast cancer ambassador Lynn Manwar who said that “The most exciting part of the event is to be able to get dressed up, with my hair styled and full makeup applied by a team of professionals. It’s a wonderful day to be pampered after the ups and downs of living with a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis.
Manwar has a personal motto “You are beautiful however you look like, and whatever size you may be. Live each day as if it were your last!

A very inspirational message to all of us.
