Suits and Staches Charity Gala 2015 in Support of Movember Canada

Every November, since 2003, there is a worldwide phenomenon where men proudly grow a “Mo” (moustache). Movember has raised almost $700 million dollars to fund men’s health programs in the areas of prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and fitness.

For the past three years, the Suits and Staches gala has been an important fundraiser for Movember Canada. This year’s event took place at Leon’s Roundhouse venue and was a huge success.

Many of the guests proudly sported their “Mo“. FE spoke with Suits and Staches co-organizer Frank Walker, who was excited about the growth of the gala over the past three years and was happy that this year’s event was the biggest ever in terms of fundraising for the Movember Foundation.

There certainly was a lot to do and see at the Suits and Staches gala. Guests could get their hair cut by Original Grooming, have themselves drawn into a character by Cartoon Bob, have a fun photo taken at the Flixel booth, take home a Stella Artois custom engraved chalice, along with their gift bag with products from Gotstyle and American Crew.

There were a variety of silent auction items to bid on including Leafs tickets, Xbox One and a painting session with artist Samara Shuter.

The evening ‘s entertainment was a mix of musical styles including performances by singer/songwriter Amanda Toms, singer/songwriter Trevor Guthrie (former lead singer of soulDecision and singer/co-writer on Armen Van Buren‘s “This is What it Feels Like“), followed by soul/funk band The St. Royals. Everyone was dancing away. Magician Nick Wallace also did card tricks throughout the evening.

There were delicious hors d’oeuvres provided by The Food Dudes including an oyster bar, mushroom risotto (with truffle whipped cream, portobello soil and herb salad), butternut squash risotto (with saffron broth, Grana Padano, carrot chips and chimichurri), crostini with goat cheese and olive tapenade, Vietnamese spring rolls, mini grilled cheese, sliders, chicken and fish tacos and shrimps.

Several bars were open which featured drinks by Ketel One Vodka (Ketel One on the Rocks, Ketel One Dutch Mule, Ketel One Minted Man), Tanqueray Gin, Stella Artois and Rosewood Estates wines.

Some of the notable guests included Don Walker (CEO Magna International), Jesse Hayman (Movember Foundation), Glen Baxter, and socialite Ainsley Kerr.

It was one memorable evening.
