We attended the reception (held at the Spoke Club) for Inside Out LGBT Film Festival 2015‘s documentary, “Tab Hunter Confidential,” which details the life of actor and singer Tab Hunter, who in the 1950s was Hollywood‘s leading heartthrob and the idol of millions.
Hunter was Warner Bros.’ top-grossing star from 1955 through 1959 and had “alleged romances” with Sophia Loren, Natalie Wood, and Debbie Reynolds.
The new film explores the life of the actor, who was forced to remain in the closet the time that he was under contract to the studios.
Living two lives in those years was difficult for the actor and only later was he able to be open about his homosexuality.
It was a real pleasure meeting the warm and gracious Hunter and some of those at the reception were lifelong fans of his.
He told us, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.”
The guests were treated to veggie pakoras, Reuben spring rolls, tandoori chicken skewers, salmon sushi roll, Korean beef skewers with kimchi, hummus, feta and olive tapenade in pastry shell, and cauliflower bites.
