TD Salsa in Toronto Cruise Night Kicks off St. Clair Street Festival
As the summer is starting to heat up, we got our dance on aboard the Northern Spirit last night on July 8, 2016! Celebrating with salsa dancing and Latino music, the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival teamed up with Mariposa Cruises for its 2nd Annual Cruise Night, which took over the Toronto waterfront with Salsa dancing and lessons by Latin dance company, Soul2Sole.
TD Salsa in Toronto Festival, one of Canada’s largest Latino cultural celebrations spanning from June 30 – July 17, features mucho music, dancing, food, and family fun. One can say it’s Muy Caliente!
Are you a salsa lover? Do you love to dance? Also if you want to learn to salsa dance you’re in luck. Here in Toronto, you can get your groove on partying with TD Salsa Toronto Festival and TD Salsa on St. Claire Street Festival (which starts today!), produced by federally incorporated Not-for-profit organization The Canadian Salsa Festivals Project. The St. Claire Street Festival has come a long way since starting as a local two-day event back in 2005. Attracting hundreds of thousands of salsa lovers from around the world, the event has grown so much into a national celebration.
What better way of celebrating Latino culture with fun music and entertainment than showcasing them on a ship. Of course, it only made sense that Mariposa Cruises, the leader in hospitality on the Toronto Harbour with the most beautiful ships docked in a prime location along Queens Quay, hosts such an event.
Boarding was from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the ship set sail at 8:00 pm sharp. Once on board guests enjoyed music and entertainment provided by DJ Jimmy Suave, who played some upbeat jams to unleash that inner Latin rhythm and had guests salsa dancing on the largest dance floor in the Toronto Harbour.
The Northern Spirit cruised 3.5-hours through the Toronto Harbour while patrons enjoyed the beautiful views of the iconic Toronto skyline lit up at night after sunset.
Latin bites like empanadas and a self-serve chicken taco station were available for hungry guests, followed by TD Salsa dance lessons and on board performances showcasing professional dance company, Soul2sole.
sponsors include Ontario Travel, Ontario, CBC, Univision Canada, tln, Hillcrest Village, and City of Toronto.
