Dude, Where’s My Truck?

With the street food movement hitting Toronto, our favourite caterer Food Dudes finally launched their Gourmet Food Truck on Aug 15, 2012.

To celebrate the launch, The Food Dudes hosted a ‘Block Party’ at 99 Sudbury for guests and medias. As we entered, we were greeted by a live body paint model. Then there was a sangria booth, an ice – sculpture photo booth, a kissing booth, a flip-cup table, live art, a GIANT twister & Connect Four game, and oh my Gosh! A live tattoo station!

We started from sampling special drinks from Tromba Tequila and Stolichnaya Vodka, then we grabbed a beer from Creemore Springs and challenged each booth. Of course, hors d’oeuvres were passed around on the exclusive Food Dudes exotic wood platters as we went crazy at each station.

After a good work out on the giant twister, we went to the Dudes truck to sample their new truck menu. The truck was equipped with a 60′ inch plasma TV playing food driven entertainment to tease our appetite as we lined up. The food, needless to say, was amazing.

The FD Food Truck menu:

Snacks
- Mac and cheese arancini
- Bone marrow toast with onion relish

- Watermelon salad with goats cheese tempura
- Bangkok slaw with triple seared steak and crispy calamari
Sambos
- Veal meatball on a basil bun
- Captain Crunch cod taco
- 24 hour braised beef brisket on a green onion biscuit

The drinks we loved:

Tommy’s Margarita prepared with 2 oz Tromba Blanco, 1 oz agave syrup, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 3 dashes of grapefruit bitters garnished with a lime twist.

Stoli’s Moscow Mule prepared with Stolichnaya Vodka, ginger beer and lime juice.

The FD Food truck can be found at Parkdale Food truck park and 99 Sudbury, located in the hip Queen West location. The truck will also be participating in the CNE Food Truck Frenzy on Aug 24 to 26 and can be booked for private events and parties.
