Verkspace, a new 9,000 Square ft. co-working space in Toronto with Scandinavian inspired designs.

New businesses pop-up every day. Most people who I meet today all call themselves an entrepreneur. With the rapid growth of start-up companies and remote workers comes the demand for co-working spaces, which, unfortunately, Toronto hasn’t been able to provide enough.

Logan Prong and Edward Wensing were in search of such workspace in Toronto, but the ones they found located on the east end were all fully booked, so instead of putting themselves down on the wait list, they decided to start their own co-working office, Verkspace.

Inspired by the Scandinavian way of life and derived from Verk, the Icelandic word for work, labour, and business, Verkspace was created to balance hard work with a sense of community by providing a collective work hub to make things happen and get things done.

Located on Toronto’s east end, Verkspace offers a spacious 6,500 sq ft. (soon to be 9,000 square ft. when they take over the third floor in November) working space for its members and guests.

Scandinavian inspired designs are evident throughout the space. Natural elements are combined with quality furniture, with the desks and chairs custom made by Herman Miller. The front desk is an antique piece from the 70s that Logan has hand picked himself.

Each floor accommodates a strategic 20-25 people, an ideal range of number that study shows gives users just enough personal space to work as well as interact happily with each other.

The ground floor includes a hot desk space, the front desk, and a 265 square ft. private office space for 6 people, which is available for 3,500/month.

The basement has a kitchen with fully stocked fridge and coffee machine. Back in the basement’s corner is a private office space for 1-2 people. The room is perfect for video & sound editing and costs $1,500/month.

The fourth floor is undergoing renovation and is set to open in mid to late August. The space has a great lighting condition and will also include 25-30 desks and a wider lounge space.

Membership at Verkspace starts from 250/month. Drop in options are also available from 9am-5pm priced at $40/day (one time use), and a 10-time package at $35/day ($350). It also has a Collective Membership program, where members pay $95/month and gets access to 2 hours of board room booking & mail service. Because, who want clients to showing up at their condo?

Verkspace co-working office is located at 32 Britain Street, Suite 100 (corner of Richmond and Sherbourne)
