May 17, 2020, is National Caesar Day! National Caesar Day has been celebrated since 2015 and always falls in May (May 2-4 weekend) and celebrates the birth of our beloved and distinct Canadian cocktail.

This year’s National Caesar Day is going to be celebrated quite differently, given the current state of the world. The Covid-19 pandemic has undoubtedly turned the world upside down. Everything has changed with the stay at home orders that have forced widespread restaurant closures. Now restaurants are using contactless pickup, takeout, gift cards, and delivery options to ensure that people can still enjoy their favourite eats during this global health crisis. These options are also one of the many ways to  support local businesses affected by Covid-19.
Lone Star Texas Grill, Canada’s largest full-service Tex-Mex restaurant, came up with brilliant new ways to bring the restaurant experience to their patrons, and at the same time, obey the social distancing measures. With the new AGCO laws, alcohol can now be sold for takeout and delivery. This has led to the creation of the Lone Star Takeout Cocktail Kits. These kits are based on their signature cocktails, the Margarita, and Caesar. After seeing massive success with the Margarita kits, Lone Star are now launching the Caesars cocktail kits just in time for National Caesar Day.

Each Caesar kit contains everything you need to make the perfect Caesar at home (provided that the customer is of legal drinking age). Inside the kit are the following: 1L of Lone Star’s classic Caesar mix (Mott’s Clamato, Worcestershire, Lone Star Hot Sauce, and crushed black pepper), house-smoked spice rim, sliced jalapeños, lime wedges, celery sticks and a 200-ml bottle of Tito’s Handmade Vodka. One kit makes six Caesars, priced at $12 for virgin Caesars, and $28 for a kit with Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Recipes can easily be found online.

For this weekend only, Lone Star Texas Grill will also be running their “National Caesar Day Special.” From May 14-18, guests/customers can get fajitas with all the fixings, house-made chips, and salsa along with the signature Caesar kit. While supplies last, each Caesar special order comes with two Mott’s Caesar glasses and is available for groups of 2, 4, 6, and 10. People can get these specials through contactless takeout or for delivery via SkipTheDishes.
