The IDS Opening Night Party, presented by Anatolia and curated by Rollout, kicked off the show with high‑energy performances, immersive installations, and a see‑and‑be‑seen atmosphere that turned the show floor into the city’s most stylish lounge. With great sets from DJs Jason Palma, Idolize, and Fly Lady Di, the guests were dancing for hours.
The emphasis of this year is placed on advancements related to material innovation, lighting technology, AI tools, and global collaborations. The immersive installations like “Field of Interaction” and the futuristic furniture presented by Moooi, HAY, and SEM Milan recharged this year’s design show with full-on creativity. We loved the Coors Light Home DeCoors Collection (available for a limited time), with tables, chairs, and stools all made from Coors Light Boxes, and the IKEA smart kitchen (a 600‑sq‑ft kitchen experience with crafted zones like a hidden prep kitchen and a walk‑in pantry). We also enjoyed ThinkL Lighting Studio‘s ILLUMINATE, a tunnel of light that highlights innovative design solutions.
The Roche Bobois Disks were so intriguing. It was a pleasure to see Steven Sabados’ art and to meet ARD’s Vondom Gorilla.
The speaker program brought designers together (both Canadian and International), including Yves Béhar (founder/CEO of fuseproject), Harvey Schaefer (MillerKnoll), Tommy Smythe (TOM), Brian Gluckstein (Gluckstein Design), and Tatiana Bilbao (Tatiana Bilbao Estudio).
IDS 2026 celebrated the people and ideas that drive the industry forward. It’s Toronto at its most creative, and a reminder of the power design can become when it brings us together.
