ICFF & Lavazza Inclucity Festival 2024: Exciting Tributes and Programs
This year’s ICFF & Lavazza Inclucity Festival promises to be very exciting and innovative, with a mix of returning programs such as the Dark Side and Architettura & Design, and new ones like the Breaking Barriers and Inclusivity & Diversity programs.
The festival takes place June 27 – July 27 at Toronto’s Distillery Historic District.
Special Tributes
There will be 2 very special tributes taking place during the festival.
Tribute to Federico Fellini
The first tribute is to the brilliant Italian director Federico Fellini, with the premiere on June 27 of the exhibition of his collected personal works, film sets, and memorabilia entitled “Fellini Forever: A Journey into Fellini’s Studio.” At the press conference, we got a sneak preview of Fellini’s very own director’s chair and his beloved hat that he wore. The opening night will also feature the Canadian premiere of the film “Finally Dawn,” starring Lily James, Joe Keery, and Willem Dafoe.
Tribute to Norman Jewison
The second tribute is to the beloved Canadian director Norman Jewison, who passed away this year. Audiences will enjoy a retrospective of his famous works, including the Academy Award-winning “Moonstruck,” “In the Heat of the Night,” as well as the film “The Thomas Crown Affair.”
Special Screenings and Awards
Celebrated Toronto director Atom Egoyan will present a special advanced screening of his film “Seven Veils.”
Noted Italian actor and director Rocco Papaleo will be awarded the prestigious ICFF 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award, a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the film industry. He will also be attending screenings of his favourite films, “Basilicata Coast to Coast” and “A Small Southern Enterprise.”
Other special guests in attendance will be Academy Award-winning producer Miles Dale, who will discuss the distillery as a cinematographic set and present his title directed by Guillermo Del Toro, “The Shape of Water,” by actress/singer Claudia Gerini, actor/impressionist Neri Marcore, and director/screenwriter Fabio Mollo.
Diverse Films and Programs
The festival has a focus on inclusivity and diversity, with films from all over the world in a variety of genres. There will be a special screening of “Space Cadet” starring Emma Roberts, the international premiere of “Everything’s Fifty-Five,” the North American premiere of “Jorge of Cappadocia,” the Canadian premiere of “The War Machine,” and the Canadian festival premiere of “Citizen of Kind.”
In the Breaking Barriers program, there will be premieres of the films “The Shadow of the Sun,” “Born for You,” “The Weekend Rebels,” “A Little Something Extra,” “Hamlet is My Brother,” and “97 Minuten.”
Dark Side Program
For those that enjoy being scared, there is the return of the Dark Side program with a slew of horror and thriller films, including the Canadian premieres of “Home Education,” “The Well,” and “Spirit in the Blood,” the Ontario premiere of “The Vourdalak,” a special advanced screening of “Cuckoo,” and a special presentation of “Breathing In.”
Architettura & Design Program
The Architettura & Design program will focus on sustainability and will include a screening of “Green over Gray: Emilio Ambasz” with director Francesca Molteni in attendance.
There will be a unique wine-tasting event entitled “Archiwine” that will celebrate winery architecture.
ICFF Industry Days 2024
The ICFF Industry Days 2024 will provide a unique platform for the film industry professionals to connect and collaborate, featuring a variety of insightful panels and valuable networking opportunities.
Free Concerts and Activities
In addition, there will be a series of free concerts celebrating music from Italy, Canada, and the Ivory Coast. These concerts, featuring a diverse range of musical styles and performances, are a testament to the festival‘s commitment to cultural diversity and inclusivity. There will also be many activities to explore, providing a dynamic and interactive festival experience.
