6 Distinctive Hairstyle Key Trends & How-Tos: Redken Back Stage with Jorge Joao at The 2013 Fall/Winter World MasterCard Fashion Week

Once again, we were invited backstage during the 2013 Fall/Winter World MasterCard Fashion Week to observe the new key trends and hairstyle creations of Redken‘s lead hairstylist  Jorge Joao.

The season’s 6 distinctive trends include Nordic Fauna, Relaxed Elegance, Understated Femininity, Wet and Dry Textures, Big City Nights, and Bohemian Grunge

Trend 1. Nordic Fauna– natures north balanced with softness (VAWK)

Trend: Nordic Fauna- natures north balanced with softness by VAWK

How to achieve the look:
1. Apply Redken Pure Force 16 and Shine Flash 02 throughout the hair to achieve wet look.
2. Create an aggressive side part and sweep hair back.
3. Create a ponytail over shoulder.
4. Wrap ponytail knot with hair and bobby-pin in place.
5. Apply Redken Iron Shape 11 and flat iron ponytail.
6. Spray with Control Addict 28 to fan out the ponytail.
7. Apply Shine Flash 02 again for finishing.

Trend 2. Relaxed Elegance (Pavoni)

How to achieve the look:
1. Use Redken Pure Force 16 and Hardwear 16 on hair to create wet look.
2. Create a high chignon and mold into shape.
3. Comb to sculpt texture.
4. Set hair in place with Redken Control Addict 28
5. Finish with Redken Shine Flash 02.

Trend 3. Understated Femininity (MATIS by Lucian Matis)

How to achieve the look:
1. Apply Redken Duo Shield 07 and blow dry.
2. Part hair to left aggressively.
3. Finish with Fashion Work 12
4. Apply Redken Shine Flash generously.

Trend 4. Wet and Dry Textures (MACKAGE)

Trend: wet and dry textures by MACKAGE

How to achieve the look:
1. Apply Redken Guts 10 and blow-dry hair towards back.
2. On top of head create a thin horseshoe section.
3. Apply Redken Hot Sets 22 on the sides and blow dry tight. 
4. Back comb horseshoe section and comb back smooth.
5. Using Redken Fashion Work 12 blend horseshoe section into sides.

Trend 5. Big City Nights (Korhani)

Trend: Big City Nights by Korhani

How to achieve the look:
1. Spray on Redken Fabricate 03 for texture.
2. From top of the head take the horseshoe section of hair and tighten the bottom into a low chignon.
3. Blow dry horseshoe section towards front, then curl with 1 ¼  inch curling iron at front.
4. Twist the same section of hair back and into chignon.
5. Finish with Redken Control Addict 28.
6. Apply Redken Shine Flash 02.

Trend 6. Bohemian Grunge

Trend – Bohemian Grunge

How to achieve the look:
1. Apply Fabricate 03, Guts 10 for texture and grit, then wrap dry to create natural flow.
2. Part left side of the hair to create a French braid and turn it into a long pony tail.
3. Pull strands from braid to losen & create loops. Take two small sections of hair & create two thin braids to fall over the French braid.
4. At the right side of the head, create a braid to keep the hair away from the face and 2 more going around the head.
5. Pull sections and spiral wrap with a 1″ curling iron  at the back of the head.
6. Finish with Control Addict 28.
