Last night, we were invited to the Official Launch of Boutique Monique, a new Vintage Retailer located on St. Clair Ave West.
The boutique reminded me of the vintage shops that I used to visit almost everyday when I was living in Navigli, an area famous for its antique market in Milan.
I am not a big fan of the latest trends or big brand names because I believe in one-of-a-kind pieces at reasonable prices. Thus vintage stores became my favourite places to shop. I often find them fun and exciting and with their reasonable pricing, I almost never walk out empty-handed.
Boutique Monique features a unique collection of high-quality vintage fashion picks from brands like Victor Costa, Ira Berg, Allen Cherry, and so on. It has a warm atmosphere with 3 rooms – one with vintage dresses, one with shoe racks full of shoes, and one with vintage hats, ties and fitting rooms. The setting is just like an ordinary house, leaving shoppers to feel like home or as if they are going through a shopaholic friend’s old closet.
The owner Monique Nanton also provides one-on-one service to help customers find pieces that best suit them.
We spotted Naomi Snieckus who plays Bobbi on Mr.D & Nina on Saw 7 3D. She’s also the co-artistic director of The National Theatre of the World & a co-creator of The Casting Room Web Series (CCA winner).
