Aria restaurant (Aria Ristorante)’s IDC Dine by Design experience during IIDEX
It was a pleasure to dine with Urszula Tokarska, designer of one of Toronto’s best designed restaurants Aria.
Designer Urszula Tokarska & Stephen Pile Architect Inc. have created an extravagant ambiance with Moooi’s dramatic Raimond lights hanging down the 35 foot high ceiling, and some incredible art pieces by Canadian artists.
The restaurant’s name “Aria” means air in Italian and also references opera. The two art master pieces: A huge chandelier oil painting by LauraWood and a massive wood sculpture byDennis Lin both depict Italian opera and drama.
From Orata crudo prepared with ginger, Campari vinaigrette, grapefruit and lemon thyme; to Carpaccio di manzo in caper vinaigrette with arugula, crispy potato chips, lemon aioli, toasted pine nuts, and parmigiano reggiano; the antipasti really whetted our appetite.
The Angus beef rib-eyes were pounded and grilled, orata filets were prepared with citrus salad with fingerling potatoes, taggiasche olives, saffron, orange and chili vinaigrette. Peach panna cotta and ricotta cheesecake sent us to heaven.
Oh, and wait. You cannot miss the two-story wine cellar featuring an extensive wine collection behind the bar.
