Bacardi Festival Libre, a 3-day fun festival at The Distillery District starts today!
We had a chance to preview the weekend-long celebration of rum culture at the media launch held at Archeo last night.
The festival showcases Bacardi cocktails and the history of rum through music, dance, food and the arts. It is all about “untameable passion” and fun with the spice of Latin heat.
What most excited us was the sampling of the incredible Bacardi cocktails including Original Cuba Libre (classic rum, cola and lime), Untameable Passion Daiquiri (rum with passionfruit syrup and lime) served flaming!! Emilio’s Exile ( rum, sugar cane juice and gingerbeer), “Rumhatten” (rum with Martini Rossi and bitters), and Lo Mismo (white rum and club soda). All were so delicious.
The cuisine at Archeo worked perfectly with the Bacardi cocktails. We really enjoyed the confit pork belly, shrimp skewers and flank steak.
We were entertained by fire dancers and we watched the staff from Frank Correnti Cigars follow the Cuban tradition to create the perfect cigar.
No doubt anyone attending the Bacardi Festival Libre will have a great time and learn so much about the 150 year tradition of making Bacardi rum.
Bacardi Festival Libre starts TODAY along The Distillery District’s Trinity Street, Case Goods Lane, Tank House Lane, Gristmill Lane and Distillery Lane.
