Birks Unveils Breitling Chronomat 44 Jet Team Watch at Shangri-La

Maison Birks presented the Breitling Chronomat 44 Jet Team American Tour timepiece at a VIP champagne reception at Shangri-La Hotel Toronto. The event celebrated the debut of the watch collection and Shangri-La‘s third year anniversary. It was an exciting event as the Breitling Jet pilots were in attendance, along with their special guests, Canadian Snowbirds.

Both teams have performed together at various airshows and are beloved by their home countries of France and Canada for their skills as aerobatic pilots.

The Breitling Chronomat 44 is a limited edition sports watch, with the Jet Team logo on it and comes with a commemorative coin.

One of the other Breitling watches that caught our eye was the Transocean Chronograph QP. Only twenty of them are produced worldwide, and they are available exclusively at Maison Birks. The Transocean Chronograph QP is quite the prestigious watch from the Swiss company, known for producing its own mechanical chronograph movements in-house.

FE spoke with one of the Canadian Snowbirds who explained that all pilots on the team work on a two-year stint and return to their roles as captains and majors in the Air Force after that.

To be chosen as a Snowbird, each pilot has to have skills in formation flying; and in true brotherhood, more senior members of the team mentor more junior members. He explained that it was a big thrill for them to perform all over North America.

Shangri-La Hotel‘s Executive Chef Damon Campbell was responsible for the delicious appetizers, which included: foie gras with apricot jam, compressed watermelon with feta cheese, duck on polenta and tuna tartare in a squid shell, all washed down with Perrier Jouët champagne.
