An Evening of Black, White and Diamonds for Sinai Health System – Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship Store
Fashion Ecstasy had the utmost pleasure to attend the Black, White, and Diamonds event on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, inside the new Saks Fifth Avenue‘s flagship store at the Eaton Centre, Toronto. Guests were treated to a unique, one-of-a-kind VIP shopping experience where 5% of all purchases would be directed towards the Sinai Health Foundation. The funds raised from this incredible evening will help transform care, develop new treatments, and improve the livelihood of people struggling with brain or mental disorders through the Sinai Health System.

Many of Toronto’s high-profile influencers and socialites were guests at this highly exclusive event. Stepping off the escalator to see many of Toronto’s movers and shakers dress up in their most glamourous attire, sipping champagne and cocktails amongst the displays of designer footwear felt like a dream come true. There were two complimentary host bars serving classic Martini, classic whisky cocktails like Manhattan, pass around hors d’oeuvres, food stations by Pusateri’s cooking up some Italian fare, and music by the Toronto All-Star Big Band.
Other highlights of the evening included inspiring speeches from Kevin Goldthorp, the Chief Executive Officer for Sinai Health Foundation and Dr. Graham Collingridge, the Senior Investigator at Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, which is part of the Sinai Health System. The speeches consisted of expressing gratitude to the sponsors and the event’s organizers, the Mount Sinai Hospital’s Women’s Auxillary. In his speech, Dr. Collingridge shared some of the innovation and excellent work and accomplishments of the Sinai Health System. One such accomplishment was Dr. Collingridge being one of three scientists who was awarded the annual Brain Prize – the world’s most valuable prize for brain research — by the Grete Lundbeck European Brain Research Foundation in Denmark. Following the speeches, guests resumed to drinking, mingling, and shopping for a wonderful cause.
With all the sponsors’ great support and contributions, Mount Sinai Hospital has raised over $110,000 to date for brain health and rehabilitation at Sinai Health System! An Evening of Black, White, and Diamonds gala has truly made an impact in the lives of patients who are living with brain conditions and their families.
