Canada’s top bartending talent competed in the Diageo World Class Canada’s Bartender of the Year 2017 at the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto for three days, showcasing current trends and the latest in mixology; celebrating and elevating the role of the bartender. On hand when the awards were presented on the evening of Wednesday May 17, 2017, were past winners of the World Class Canada: Grant Sceney, Lauren Mote, Shane Mulvany and Jenner Cormier, as well as the 12 national finalists from across Canada.
Over 250,000 bartenders have been educated in their craft using the spirits of the Diageo Reserve collection since the program started in 2009. The training the bartenders receive from the World Class competition has been instrumental in transforming fine drinking experiences and cocktail culture at home in Canada and around the world. An elated Kaitlyn Stewart from Vancouver, British Columbia was announced as the winner of 2017 Diageo World Class Bartender. Stewart will go on a beautiful journey to Mexico City from August 20-25, 2017 to compete in the World Class Global Final, where she will have the opportunity to create concoctions made with Diageo luxury spirits, such as Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whisky, Tanqueray No. Ten Gin, Bulleit Bourbon, Don Julio Tequila, Ketel One Vodka, and more.
