Don’t let the rain stop you… with Helly Hansen’s S/S 2016 Rainwear Collection, #weloverain, and you will, too!
Spring is finally here to stay, with a bit of rain. But that won’t stop us from going out. We’ve been craving warm weather for too long.
New to my wardrobe are Helly Hansen’s W Welsey Trench and W Veierland 2 Graphic boots from its Spring/Summer 2016 rainwear collection, two new essentials to get me through the wet season.
Helly Hansen has been a global leader in producing weather protective gear since 1877, with rubber rain boots being the core of its business. With two different patterns, floral and stripes, the women´s W Veierland tall wellington boots effortlessly combine fashion with functionality and comfort. To get a complete H/H look, I picked out Helly Hansen’s W Welsey Trench, a Scandinavian take on a classic trench coat. Made with Helly Tech fabric, the Welsey Trench provides full weather protection functionality without compromising style. The fabric is breathable, waterproof, and windproof, and provides just enough insulation for a wet and windy day without being too bulky. The style features adjustable cuffs, a packable hood that can be conveniently stowed away when the rain stops, a full zip closure, a collar that can be worn up to cover a portion of the face or folded down, and an extra double breast layer for more protection. The seams are fully sealed, and the lining is made with quick-dry fabric to ensure you stay dry even in challenging weather. The Welsey Trench raincoat comes in six beautiful colours; to match the deep blue stripes on my new wellies, I chose the Deep Steel. The contrasting pink in the details adds a nice pop to the coat.
For a 95 lbs 5’ 2”, the best part about Helly Hansen’s raingear is the extra-small size that is available in the women’s wear collection. That means finding my first fitted raincoat that does not make me look like I’m playing dress-up in my mom’s closet.
When summer approaches, I’ll be looking into getting Helly Hansen’s Embla Light Summer Coat, an incredibly lightweight raincoat that easily packs down into a waterproof pouch, which is ideal for my travels.
What is HELLY HANSEN?
In 1877, Norwegian captain Helly Juell Hansen and wife Maren Margarethe decided to produce garments made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil after living many years at sea, and Helly Hansen was born. The company invented its first supple waterproof fabric over 130 years ago and introduced the first LIFA® Stay Dry Technology base layers in the 1970s. Today, Helly Hansen continues to protect travellers and professionals making a living under some of the harshest environments around the world. Helly Hansen’s products are worn by world-class skiers, sailors, and adventurers, and is the official partner producing uniforms for over thirty-five mountain guiding operations and ski resorts. Helly Hansen’s products include outerwear, sportswear, base layers, footwear, outdoor and winter gear and are available in more than forty countries.
