I was pleased to be invited to Toronto’s own fashion designer Hilary MacMillan‘s Fall/ Winter 2013 collection début at Glass Door, 99 Sudbury last night. The show started with a reception catered by Food Dudes, serving vegetarian spring rolls, tofu and wine. After sipping on some wine guests proceeded to the runway area for the show. The collection was more of a business, androgynous style with lots of jacquard, prints, and structured silhouettes. My favourite piece was a structured dress with raglan sleeves made with mixed and matched fabrics:
Hilary MacMillan started her fashion career in early 2010 by opening Elle Hardware, a trendy jewellery store on Queen West selling Canadian made accessories. She then created her first clothing collection for Fall/Winter 2012. The Fall/Winter 2013 collection was Hilary MacMillan‘s first runway presentation.
