The Canadian premiere of movie Real Gangsters was held at the tiff Bell Lightbox during the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) on June 30th, 2013. In attendance were the Real Gangsters’ cast & crew including Oscar and Emmy nominated actor Robert Loggia (Scarface, Independence Day, The Sopranos), Frank D’Angelo (writer, producer & director), Michael Pare (Eddie and the Cruisers, Streets of Fire), Robert Mangiardi (Death of a President), Nick Mancuso (Under Siege, Ticket to Heaven), Sean McCann (Affliction, Tommy Boy), Tony Rosato (S.N.L.), Graz Kovacs, Richard Lett, and Art Hindle (E.N.G, Face-Off).
Real Gangsters tells a story about the relationship between 2 cousins who run the most successful crime syndicate in New York City, one a politician and the other a sociopathic gangster with sprinkles of humanity. Real Gangsters is one of the top selling tickets for the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) and the number 1 selling movie in New York. It is surprising how the film only took Frank D’Angelo six weeks to produce from inspiration to completion.
D’Angelo, a big fan of James Gandolfini, was the writer, producer, director and actor of Real Gangsters. Real Gangsters, as Art Hindle expressed, was “a definitive gangster movie”. Watch Art Hindle talk about James Gandolfini, Real Gangsters, and his point of view on gangsters in general:
During the premiere Robert Loggia was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the ICFF. Loggia is best known for starring in films Scarface, Independence Day, An Officer and A Gentleman, Big, Jagged Edge, and numerous television credits including The Sopranos and Family Guy. During our interview with him he expressed his greatest sorrow over the passing of James Gandolfini who also starred in The Sopranos.
