My two-week winter escape to the Sunshine State has just ended, and I cannot tell you how much I am not looking forward to donning layers after layers of winter clothing back in Toronto’s sub-zero temperatures. I was so happy to discover Slanky’s new product in my mailbox, a nearly invisible underwear that provides heat insulation without having to bulk up like the Michelin Man, because this beach ready body that I worked so hard for is not ready to be covered up yet!
Slanky’s undergarment is made of a pantyhose-like fabric that contains Spandex and Nylon. Founder Karin Nieuwoudt made her first Slanky with a pair of opaque tights and a pair of scissors when she was dressing up for a high-end Dallas trade event, knowing that the air-conditioner will be on full blast at the venue.
Slanky is designed with under-the-bust necklines and skin tone matching colours, which make it undetectable when worn under button-down shirts, sheer tops or even plunge neckline dresses. It hugs around the hips with a lace trim designed to prevent the garment from sliding up.
Providing an extra layer of warmth, Slanky underwear is also perfect for office spaces, because did you know…
According to NBC’s TODAY show, most office thermostats are set for men, who have higher metabolic rates than women. A lower basal metabolic rate burns off energy slower, which results in lower body temperature and us (women) shivering all the time.
Slanky underwear is available in two sizes (extra small to medium and large to extra large), four colors (cinnamon, blush, hazelnut, and black), and with the option of plain or lace neckline.
