The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), held its 13th annual photography auction fundraiser, SNAP! 2014 at Andrew Richard Designs. Both established and emerging artists showcased their photographs in the live and silent auctions.
Over the past 13 years, the SNAP! Gala has raised over two million to support the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), which provides proper HIV/AIDS education, helps AIDS prevention, and assists those who live with HIV/AIDS.
The evening was jam-packed with art patrons enjoying the silent auction. Eatertainment provided delicious appetizers including blue potato bocconcini, east coast lobster, smoked trout aioli, beef wellington with mushroom truffle compote, tomato arancini, beef tartare in a mini waffle cone, and edamame pancakes with grilled artichoke. Mike Weir wines were available along with Iceberg vodka, and Steam Whistle beer.
Some of the attendees included MP Olivia Chow, Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman of CBC‘s TV show, Steven and Chris.
The live auction component of the evening was quite exciting.
Honorary Chair, journalist Anne Mroczkowski, showed her appreciation for being involved with the SNAP! 2014 Gala. The first photo by Susan A. Barnett sold for $1000.00 and other pieces went for as high as $4,200.00. Chris Hyndmange nervously bought a photograph by Alessandro Pardi for $1600.00 and in the process, accidentally bid against himself, much to the laughter of the auctioneer.
Shirtless male models helped showcase the photographs, much to the cheers of the crowd.
It was a fun evening providing necessary funds for the AIDS Committee of Toronto.
