A celebration of the best of France took place at David Pecaut Square on July 12, 2015 in honour of French independence – Bastille Day.
The Consulate General of France, Jean-Francois Casabonne started the festivities at the Maille Bistro with a traditional ribbon cutting. At his side was the organizer of the event, Thierry Lasserre, Executive Director of the Alliance Française.
Unique cocktails featuring, what else, Maille mustard, served in mustard pots and garnished with rosemary were surprisingly refreshing.
Various varieties of Maille mustard were available for tasting accompanied by pretzels and cornichons including one made with balsamic vinegar.
UK Mustard sommelier Harry Lalousis was on hand to give his expert advice. A lunch basket of French bistro fare; quiche, sandwiches, madeleines and macaroons, were provided for guests.
Everyone in attendance received an individually prepared jar of Maille mustard to take home and enjoy.
