Inaugural Celebrity Tea & Tiaras – Where High Tea Meets High Fashion
Tea and Tiaras: The Fairmont Royal York Hotel
The first annual Tea & Tiaras in support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada took place on Sunday, November 2, 2014. The presenting sponsor for this fundraiser that merges high tea with high fashion was the Toronto law firm Bloom Lanys.
Guests were greeted by music violinist Grenville Pinto before entering the sitting room of the Fairmont Royal York.
Furnished in traditional velvet by Anne & Co., the tables showcased hats and fascinators by milliner David Dunkley, Lia Sophia Jewelry, Starlight collectible bears and a beauty corner where all items were on sale for two dollars.
The dining room was set with fine linens and high tea service which featured sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam as well as bilinis. The afternoon’s host was Jennifer Valentyne from Breakfast Television on CityTV.
Hilary Farr of “Love It or List It”, JUNO nominated musician Alysha Brilla, actress Sheila McCarthy, celebrity chef Anna Olson, TV personality Karl Lohnes and Anne Mroczkowski, Sportsnet Central’s Jackie Redmond. Canadian Opera Company’s Simone Osborne and Charlotte Burrage, National Ballet of Canada’s Greta Hodgkinson and Jillian Vanstone were also in attendance.
Soprano Antonella Cavallaro sung twice during the tea service and a fashion show by RW &Co, took place towards the end of this afternoon event.
Silent auction items on display included a three-piece crystal jewelry set, a one of a kind handmade fascinator and a Veruschka coffee table book.
Fashionable ladies of Toronto showed their support for this fantastic cause at this inaugural sophisticated fundraiser.
