Come Together 2015 in Support of ArtHeart Community Art Centre – Daniels Spectrum
ArtHeart Community Art Centre has been providing free visual arts education, programmes, materials and meals to youth, children and adults in the Regent Park Community for over 20 years.
On Monday, June 8, 2015, John Scott hosted Come Together, a fundraiser for ArtHeart Community Art Centre.
Food stations were created by Fidel Gastro’s. The Taco Station featured kalbi marinated roast pork with bahn mi slaw as well as a white ceviche with avocado, cucumber and corn salsa. The Slider Station also had two options: Kingzilla, a root beer braised beef and kimchi, and Sticky-Icky Chicken, shredded chicken in Korean pepper sauce with spicy pickled cucumbers. For vegetarians, there was also a Mac and Cheese Station serving a three-cheese version as well as the more adventurous Thai Green Curry Mac and Cheese. For vegans, there was a salad station provided by Whole Foods. Wine and Kronenbourg beer were also offered. Besides all you can eat and drink, there was live entertainment at the event by emerging Toronto musicians.
An original lithograph by John Scott sponsored by the Nicholas Metivier Gallery, “Imperious Rabbit”, was available for sale with all proceeds going to ArtHeart Community Art Centre.
Crafts for sale included hand painted tea towels and handbags by ArtHeart, and hand painted T-shirts and buttons made on the spot.
ArtHeart Community Art Centre participants build self-esteem, develop life skills and improve their quality of life within a supportive environment. Come Together 2015 was a great event supporting a great cause.
