Crown Royal Canadian Whisky Launches Monarch 75th Anniversary Limited Edition Blend
It’s been 75 years since King George VI and Queen Elizabeth toured North America.
Their famous visit to Canada inspired the makings of our beloved Canadian whiskey, Crown Royal.
Samuel Bronfman, who founded Crown Royal stated “ We join in paying homage to Their Gracious Majesties, whose crowns are a symbol of the democracy, freedom, tolerance and justice to the whole world”.
In honour of this great history, Crown Royal has launched its limited edition Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend. We were fortunate to participate in the tasting of it with Master Distiller, Joanna Scandella, at Toronto’s National Club.
From Joanna Scandella, we learned that American oak barrels are used to create the blend. And only the best batches, rated 5-NOG (nectar of the gods) are used to create the finished whiskey.
The blend is quite smooth with notes of vanilla, caramel and dried fruits. We also tried the anniversary cocktails “The King George” (Crown Royal with lemon juice, cranberry, juice, and maple syrup), “Regal at 75” (Crown Royal with lemon, honey syrup, fresh pineapple and Amaro Montenegro) and “Royal Train” ( Crown Royal with Regans’ Orange Bitters, Green Chartreuse and Italian Sweet Vermouth). They all were delicious.
To complement the Crown Royal, we enjoyed lamb chops, smoked salmon, shrimps and maple infused pastries.
