Jessica Gorlicky Designs / JESSGO Gallery Celebrates New 2,300 sq ft Space

Jessica Gorlicky Designs / JESSGO Gallery, featuring the art of Jessica Gorlicky, held its grand opening party last Friday, May 13th, to celebrate its new 2,300 sq ft space on Caledonia Road in Toronto’s Design District. After nine months of painting in a small space located on Queen street west, Jessica Gorlicky (better known as JessGo) finally found a space to properly display her creations. The colourful mural outside reads “Please Paint Responsibly” and that motto captures the essence of the gallery. Fun, humour and talent are in abundance.

The space had been previously used to house collectible sports cars and it took nine months of renovation to transform into the gallery. White lacquered floors, brand new windows, and white walls create a feeling of airiness to the gallery. Jessica Gorlicky’s colourful art certainly pops from everywhere. The studio also makes a great event space as well.

Gorlicky is known for her amazing works and her performance art. She has performed live painting shows on the Cirque Du Soleil Totem tour. She has also done commissioned pieces for Google and Nordstroms among many other clients.

In her series “The Sound of Art,” Gorlicky pays tribute to musical legends like David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Prince, Debbie Harry, Mick Jagger, and Jimi Hendrix. Each of these paintings comes with an LED Light bulb and Bluetooth Speaker to create a complete sensory experience.

Other paintings being showcased at the gallery include Wonder Woman, Captain Amerika, Bill Murray, and Marilyn Monroe. There is also a series of paintings of classic cartoon characters like Scooby Doo, Alvin Chipmunk, Dino, Kermit the Frog, Smurfs, and Care Bear. And, who could resist paintings of well known cereals like Lucky Charms and Count Chocula?

At the opening event, Food Dudes provided delicious Mac N’ Cheese Balls, BBQ Burgers and Captain Crunch Fish Tacos. Macchina Mobile Cafe prepared hot beverages of our choice including Espresso, Macciato, Cortado, Cappuccino, Cafe Noisette, refreshing teas, and hot chocolate.

Students from the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts (a neighbour of the Jessgo gallery) also shared some of their talents. There were exquisite eclairs, marshmallows, bonbons, and cookies to try.

Jessica Gorlicky Designs / JESSGO Gallery is located at 660 Caledonia Road Unit 105, Toronto
