Osteria dei Ganzi – A traditional Italian restaurant set to be the next patio hot spot in Toronto
Patio season has finally arrived and we have been dying to dine alfresco. The transition from Italian lifestyle to Torontonian has not been so easy. I do love Toronto more than anywhere else however I miss long summers when I can sit outdoors and enjoy my afternoon aperitivo – an Aperol Spritz or prosecco along with some antipasti. I would’ve gone back anytime just to experience it again.
It was like a dream come true at the VIP preview tasting of Osteria dei Ganzi. The restaurant has a spacious patio that can accommodate up to 195 guests. The kitchen not only serves traditional regional Italian cuisine, it also serves afterwork aperitivi. Just what I crave for.
The restaurant did not need much renovation as the 122 year old historic building was already stunning with extraordinary craftsmanship, beautiful stain glassed windows & brass fixtures.
Our menu…
Antipasti
Italian Tagliere: Selection of imported Italian D.O.P. cold cuts and cheese with breaded olive taggiache, arancini and parmigianina crostino
Pasta
Carni
The Osso Buco is a must- try. The meat is fall off the bone tender and melts in your mouth. Make sure to extract the marrow as it is the best part of the dish.
Dolci trio
Dolci trio- Profiterol (Beignet) stuffed with Crema Pasticcera and coated with warm chocolate, orange cheesecake mousse on Grand Marnier biscotti, classic Tiramisu
Mouth-watering? Wait until you hear that all dishes are made under $20, including other notable dishes such as swordfish carpaccio, homemade gnocchi with pachino tomato, and so on. Guests are encouraged to share food like true Italians.
The wine…
Ganzi serves over 40 kinds of wines including a high-end selection of Amarone, Barolo and Brunelo, all available by glass, too.
The crew…
Ganzi was created by a group of 4 friends who were passionate about bringing different culture and lifestyle to Toronto. One of them was also the same guy who brought us Nikki Beach and Bagatelle Brunch during TIFF. Ganzi‘s executive Chef- Guerrino Staropoli is one of Rome’s most respected chefs & culinary teachers. Ganzi‘s mixologist Joao Machado is the former head mixologist for Sofitel– a luxury hotel chain in Europe. Ask him to make you something special, he will wow you 😉
