Toula Restaurant & Bar Westin Harbour Winterlicious Review
Located on the 38th floor of the historic Westin Harbour Castle, high atop the shores of Lake Ontario, Toulà Restaurant & Bar provides one of the best views of the Toronto city skyline. The winning factor- You can see the CN Tower, too!
While winterlicious or summerlicious may mean cheaper deals for some, they may also mean lower quality for others. Recently, we visited Toula Restaurant & Bar for its newly launched winterlicious menu and it did not disappoint. The list had a broad range of food items to choose from including eight appetizers, eight mains and five desserts.
Appetizers we tried:
“Giovanni” Gran Lobster Cocktail
The “Giovanni” Gran Lobster Cocktail was prepared in a shell of radicchio leaf with a chilled PEI lobster claw that sits on a bed of avocado and pineapple salsa. The lobster claw was juicy and refreshing, and the salsa was a nice combination of tart and creamy.
In-House Salmone Affumicato Carpaccio
The In-House Salmone Affumicato Carpaccio was a generous portion of smoked Atlantic wild salmon that is cured in-house, sprinkled with fresh capers and finished with just the right amount of lemon and extra virgin olive oil emulsion.
Vegetarian options like the Toula Classic Caprese Tower (tomato and mozzarella salad), the Insalata Panzanella (bread and tomato salad), and the Toula Classic Minestrone were also available.
Mains we tried:
Though the lamb ragout handmade tagliatelle pasta with black truffle slices was very tempting, fish & beef were what we were craving!
Branzino Alla Portofino
Chilean sea bass was cooked to perfection and served on a bed of saffron carnaroli prosecco risotto with fresh string beans sandwiched in between. The puttanesca tapenade on top beautifully brought out the flavours of the fish.
Filleto “Romeo e Giulietta”
Filleto “Romeo e Giulietta” was a romantic marriage between a perfect cut of AAA certified Angus beef filet and a medley of mushrooms in Amarone Valpolicella reduction, with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P. adding a perfect touch to it. The steak was, thank God, cooked to a perfect medium-rare: tender and flavourful pink meat wrapped in a thin and slightly burnt crust.
For the vegetarians, a vegetarian gnocchi gorgonzola dish was also on the menu.
Desserts we tried:
Toula Dark Chocolate Temptation Cake
The Toula Dark Chocolate Temptation Cake was not overly sweet. A drier texture made it an ideal pairing with a shot of espresso.
Homemade Assorted Gelato
The Homemade Assorted Gelato came with a scoop of gelato and assorted berries marinated with Amaretto Disaronno and topped with a mini Toula homemade biscotti.
Other classic Italian desserts like tiramisu and cappuccino panna cotta with amaretto cookies were also on the menu.
With quality ingredients, breathtaking views and elegant setting, Toula is a restaurant worth revisiting – again and again! What’s best? A complimentary glass of bubbly upon your second visit during Winterlicious, and a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne on your fifth! And let’s not forget, you get to try more scrumptious food from their menu!
Toula‘s Winterlicious menu is available for lunch & dinner until February 11, 2016.
No time for Winterlicious?
