“I had Pho soup!!” This is a statement a friend shared with me a week before Popup Markets x WonderPho‘s tasting event at WonderPho, a Vietnamese restaurant in North York (865 York Mills Rd).

Pho is essential in any discussion about Vietnamese food, and WonderPho did not disappoint. The first course were six bowls of pho with different flavors and spices. As my date pointed out, they were “Wonderpho, notice the play on words”, he said. The broth of each bowl had the flavors and aromas of good pho. Rich deep flavors to mild soothing soup. My favorite was the curry pho, but there were two or three others lined up to take its place. However, there is more to WonderPho than broth. The spring rolls, both the pork and shrimp summer rolls were a satisfying meal, all the ingredients were really fresh and tasty. The Vietnamese Fried Chicken was a good combination salty and savory that results in a finger licking good meal. The Coconut Milk Calamari was perfection. I liked the flavor combination of the salt and pepper and the light batter coating the calamari, they were delicious.
WonderPho has a wide array of food choices. They continued to serve the Nem Nuong (pork, peanut, hoisin in a lettuce wrap) and Surf and Turf (fried shrimp with chicken pate); both were very light yet filling. The final meal was the Banh Hoi Lettuce Wraps, a do it yourself wrap, made perfect to share with 2 people. It was an impressive presentation platter with lettuce, meat and noodles. In addition, the Sticky Rice Stuffed Chicken was also served for those who like the combination of sweet and tender chicken to satiate those craving choices. I was very impressed with WonderPho Vietnamese restaurant; it is a wonderful place to enjoy a delectable array of Vietnamese food with fresh ingredients and tantalizing spices.
