台北處處看得到的火鍋餐廳但通常都是ㄧ人一鍋的個人小火鍋,因為份量也不大,但若真的小鳥胃,在溼冷的淡水又想暖身填飽肚子的你,或是發現剛剛在淡水老街血拼一個太忘我忘記留足夠的錢吃飯,鍋董火鍋樓便是您您的一大救星。在過董開鍋,凡消費$280以上變可享有基本湯底、蔬菜盤、附餐各一份以及生蛋一顆。最佛心的是只要多加點$50即可共鍋

Hot pot restaurants can be seen everywhere in Taipei. They’re usually individual pots, serving just enough portion for 1. But if you really have an appetite of a bird, or suffer from anorexia; Taipei’s nasty cold and humid weather doesn’t help and makes you hungrier than usual, and you want to warm your body with some hot soup. The saddest part is you just strolled down Tamsui Old street and spent almost all your money. You’re in luck, my friend. Guo Dong Shabu-Shabu Hot Pot Restaurant is your big savior. Guo Dong Tamsui’s hot pot starts at $280 with a basic vegetarian soup base, a vegetable plate, a starch option, and a raw egg. The best part is for just an additional $50nt, 2 can share 1 pot!

只吃西餐的殘編搬來濕冷的淡水,變得天天都想吃鍋。醫院的護理師都笑我笨,說一般人都是夏天搬到淡水,冬天才發現被騙。經過2層樓顯眼的郭董涮涮鍋已好幾次,這次因為不只腦袋空空,荷包也空空,終於有機會造訪。

I usually go for Western food when eating out, but I’ve recently moved to Tamsui. It’s a scam; the nurses at the hospital laughs at me and tells me nobody moves to Tamsui during the winter, people only move here during summer and realize they’ve been scammed when winter hits. Haha, I guess the joke’s on my pathetic life again. It’s true, the nasty wet weather makes me crave for hot pot almost every day.
I’ve passed by Guo Dong shabu-shabu hotpot restaurant several times since moving here, the restaurant is pretty noticeable since it is a 2-floor building. On this sad day, I’m not just grumpy and hungry from the wet rainy winter day, I also happen to run out of cash for a nice meal, too. So, I enter Guodong hot pot restaurant for the first time.

鍋董店面共2層,廁所在2樓,咱們進場時2樓尚未開放。

鍋董除了基本素食湯底以外,其它的湯底只要加$60還有「泡菜湯底」、「麻辣湯底」、「咖哩湯底」、「藥膳湯底」可選。若加$80更是有「剝皮辣椒湯底」或「香醇牛奶湯底」可選,除了平常就手腳冰冷玩,殘編最近遇到很多事情讓我得「心寒」,所以就選了「藥膳湯底」希望可以暖暖心也暖暖身。

In addition to the fundamental vegetarian soup base, an additional $60mt can get you a “Kimchi Soup Base,” “Spicy Soup Base,” “Curry Soup Base,” or “Chinese herbs Soup Base.” An additional $80nt gets you a “Chili Soup Base” or a ” Milky Soup Base.“ ” Besides the nasty weather, I’ve recently encountered many cultural shocks that give me the chills (they never end!), so I opt for the Chinese herbs for my soup base in hopes of some “Chinese medicine” can actually work its magic for once and warm me up.

海陸鍋有分「特級海陸鍋」($470)跟「小海陸鍋」($400)差別在於「特級海陸鍋」的肉片只使用比較高檔的肉,前者不用共鍋費,後者卻需要再加共鍋費。
咱們點了一個「小海陸鍋」搭配「羊肉」。鍋董的主菜選擇比一般火鍋店更多選擇,有「白飯」、「滷肉飯」、「拉麵」、「王子麵」、「冬粉」。菜單內有各式各樣的上一下蔬菜類」可以單點,便便不順這個愛吃鬼門可以趁這個時間好好補充一下膳食纖維。咱們家點了殘編最愛吃的「花椰菜」跟「榨菜」(各$50)。店家贈送每桌菜心ㄧ盤,逼死不吃菜的肉肉族。但份量煮出來約只有一口的量,所以肉食主義的免驚。

There are 2 options for Guo Dong’s “surf and turf” pot: the “Superior surf & turf”($ 470nt) and the “small surf & turf” ($400nt). The difference being the former uses better meat quality and doesn’t charge additional for sharing a pot while the latter does.
We ordered a “small surf & turf” with “lamb” for our turf option. Staple food options are much more creative than regular hotpot restaurants in Taipei, including”white rice,” “braised pork rice,” “ramen,” “Prince noodles” (instant noodles) and “glass noodles.” A variety of vegetables, meats, and other hotpot ingredients on the menu are available for add-ons. If you’re “shit-faced” from constipation, this is your chance for your fiber intake. EAT YOUR VEGGIES, guys! I, of course, order my favorite broccoli and pickled mustard, which costs $50 each.
A small plate of lettuce is also served compliments of the restaurant, carnivores don’t freak, it’s only a bite after cooking. And Eat your veggies!

主盤上菜後附了一小杯米酒,米酒加入的時機人人各有所好,這時饕客就可以自行處理啦!殘編覺得跟別家的鍋比起來是很貼心的ㄧ個小變化。

While most dishes served in Chinese/Asian restaurants that contain the use of rice wine is served with everything ready-to-eat, the main plate of our “surf& turf” comes with a separate shot of rice wine. This is a thoughtful touch since everyone likes their rice wine cooked differently. Consumers can play the chef.

「榨菜」是切片的,雖然看起來是可以直接食用,但因製作過程不知是不是有腳踩、鳥屎或馬尿之類的參與,咱為了安全,還是稍微涮了一下。

Pickled mustard“($50nt) is sliced. Although it looks like it is ready to eat, in Taiwan, you never know if there is any athlete’s feet stepping, bird feces, or horse urine involved in the production process, so to be safe, we blanch them before eating.

鍋董每桌上皆有復生雞蛋,但火鍋蛋吃法每人喜好不一,殘編人生經過太多血腥事件,所以喜歡「分屍法」,將蛋黃跟蛋白分離,蛋黃拿來混沾醬,蛋白丟進鍋裡煮。印象中,香港朋友的吃法是整顆生蛋混進沾醬,如果您跟殘編友人一樣喜歡吃溫泉蛋,只要下鍋約一分鐘即可享用

All tables are prepared with a raw egg for each seat at Guo Dong hotpot restaurant. But like adding rice wine, each guest has his/ her own preference, since I’ve survived many bloody accidents, I prefer the “Dexter” way: separating the yolk from the egg white; the yolk goes into my sauce, and the egg white goes into the pot. From what I remember, the Hong Kong way is to mix the whole raw egg with the sauce. If you’re craving for a poached or over-easy, it takes just about a minute to prepare.
