We know winter’s over when we start seeing the advertisements for the One of a Kind Spring Show in Toronto! The Spring #OOAK19 show is a shorter version of the One of a Kind Winter Show, but it doesn’t disappoint!
There’s still so much to see… in a shorter time! Each year there are new exhibitors who share their talents. And, yes, some exhibitors return every year – so you get to see your old favourites every time you visit! Whether it’s a night out with friends on the late Thursday night when the show is open until 11 pm or a couple of hours during the day, it’s all interesting and exciting.
You can sip a glass of wine or beer while enjoying the exhibits, watch the fashion shows, or other demos. The DIY demo workshops include cooking, painting or making handcrafts bracelets, among others. After all the walking it’s time to relax in one of the lounges, cafés or bar areas where there’s a selection of foods to savour. A guidebook with detailed map gives you all the info you need! The show is divided into sections – the gourmet foods in the Flavours section, clothing in the Fashion District. This year Québec Créatif was launched with a partnership with SODEC and Bureau du Québec à Toronto. Not only do you see the beautiful, creative works from Quebec, but you can practise your French, too!
Another new part was Futurpreneur Corner showcasing six of Canada’s newly created businesses. The French Pavilion exhibited handmade goods by artisans from the Paris, France region. With an ecological focus, the Green area features sustainable fashion, body care, décor for home and more. The Rising Stars section is for new artisans showing or selling their works. And another new section was Small Biz introducing ten Grade 8 students who run their own businesses by creating, marking and selling their own handmade items. Very young entrepreneurs!
And finally, to celebrate the exhibitors who have been at Once of a Kind for years, there’s the Hall of Fame! So it’s a great mix of the young and then the experienced exhibitors. Lots of talent! The One of a Kind Show offers special admission prices on different days and a late night till 11 pm on Thursday. Located at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place grounds where there’s lots of parking, very close to TTC and GO Train.
The One of a Kind Show is described as “the best attended, most popular show of its kind in North America!” And once you’ve visited, you’ll agree! There’s so much variety, excellent quality of craftsmanship and people from all over Canada and beyond.
