上個月殘編榮幸受邀參加全世界各大媒體報社總編輯和專業治醫學專家的會議，討論如何在「心理健康意識月」（五月）期間在家仍然保持身心的健康
。在會議中，醫學專家告訴我們，在近來的疫情跟各種混亂讓成年人感到憂鬱和憤怒的同時，孩子們卻在家裡反而是近的發揮創意與創造力。

I was honoured to be invited to join the world’s leading media outlets’ Editor-in-Chief & medical professionals for a conference discussing how to stay healthy at home during Mental Health Awareness Month (May). At the conference, the medical professionals informed us that adults are going depressed and angry from the pandemic and chaos going on. While that’s no surprise, kids, however, are boosting creativity at home.

I’ve already introduced Show 233, a self-serve paint studio located in Tamsui‘s Fisherman’s Wharf, more than once before. Since the Coronavirus pandemic hasn’t ultimately come to an end, I’ve been struggling to keep my inner artist inside my apartment since I don’t have any painting supplies at home to create art. If you are going through the same situation, I’ve got good news for you. 過去的兩個月對殘編來說也特別低潮。不僅得知好朋友的媽媽得了武漢肺癌去世的惡訊，在多倫多陪伴我們超過19年的愛犬也終於累了，飛上天了。在情緒低落時，創造藝術是非常療癒有助於紓
壓的。因此，除了使用為了「心理健康意識月」而學會的框式呼吸外，我還首次嘗試了鑽石畫來紀念我們家的小狗，完成後會發文分享我的經驗。但我在購買鑽石話時忘記自己是殘障，所以粉絲們等我完成可能要等上幾個月，拍謝啦（羞）。

The past 2 months have been hard on me, too. Not only did my good friend lost her mom to COVID-19, but we also lost our dog, who had been with us for over 19 years. Creating art is therapeutic when going through emotional downtimes like this. So besides using box breathing, which I learned for Mental Health Awareness Month, I tried diamond painting, which I will be posting later when I’m complete with it. It could be months later because I forgot about my disability when I purchased it, and I realized I’m in deep shyt now (lol).

殘編從魚藏文化館備齊了一包12色的壓克力顏料，一塊30公分 x 30公分的「鳳凰畫板」和4種不同大小、形狀的畫筆。魚藏文化社所販售的畫具包裝精美用心。顏料除了密封的管子跟紙盒外，還用保鮮膜加強密封，防止顏料乾掉。壓克力顏料在下筆後較快乾，而且乾掉後就變塑膠，雖然較難處理，但比較好保存。殘編現在開始要耐心用非慣用手完成這張圖，因為我左側癱瘓又剛好是左撇子。這就是我的笑話人生。哈。

I got a pack of 12 color-acrylic paint, a 30cm by 30cm Phoenix canvas, and 4 different paintbrushes. The packaging is exquisite. The paint colours don’t just come in a box but also sealed with plastic wrap, so they don’t dry out. Acrylic painting is relatively harder to deal with as it dries much faster, and once the paint dries up, it becomes plastic, making the colours harder to manipulate with once you make a stroke. Now all I need is to be patient and complete the piece with my non-dominant hand since I suffer from left-side paralysis, and I just happen to be a lefty. Story of my life. Ha.

五六年級生熟知的民歌女神組團「南方二重唱」的林小南也是秀之藝術二館魚藏文化館的熟客與忠誠粉絲之一喔，現在的她化身成為藝術家，近期更是出版名為「輕描淡水」的書籍，以速寫呈現淡水的文史風采。日前也在show233秀之藝術二館畫室與旅學堂合作下在位於漁人碼頭的魚藏文化社帶著民眾，一起參與繪出淡水的人文風景。
運氣好的朋友們搞不好能撞星巧遇小南並看到他的畫作喔！

Millennials and Generation X in Taiwan all remember “Nan Fang Er Chong Chang,” the folk song goddess duet that was part of all of our memories growing up. Lin Xiaonan, a member of the duet, is also a regular and loyal customer of Show 233 Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf location. Living in Tamsui for most of her life has inspired her to become an artist. Her recently published book, “Qin Miao Dan Shui,” is a collaboration between Show 233, where she led customers and visitors at Show 233 Paint Studio at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf paint out the beauty of Tamsui‘s nature and cultural history.
If you’re lucky, there’s a high possibility to star-spot Xiao Nan yourself and check out her artworks!
