Party in the Library celebrated the opening of the new Koffler Gallery and Centre of the Arts at ARTSCAPE YOUNGPLACE.
The old Shaw Street Public School had been renovated by Artscape Youngplace to house various arts organizations, including Luminato.
Guests at the event were asked to permanently sign the chalkboard walls and share their memories of their first book and their first art.
Delicious food including pakoras and vegetable rolls was provided by Kosher Trends and drinks from Lorac Wine and Steam Whistle Brewery.
The Koffler family proudly cut the ribbon to officially open the space. MPP Rosario Marchese for Trinity- Spadina spoke a few words of support.
The Koffler Gallery is in the former school library, which is also the theme of the exhibition “We’re in the Library“, celebrating the history of the space. Among the contributing artists are Sara Angelucci, Barbara Astman, Adam David Brown, Michelle Gay, Ido Govrin, Vid Ingelevics and Jon Sasaki. The exhibit runs through Jan 19, 2014.
