This Halloween: Spooky Lagoon Toronto Island Stories: Murder at the Lighthouse
If you are looking for something new to do during Halloween season, “Spooky Lagoon” it’s the place for you.
Toronto’s favourite water taxis Tiki taxi, Toronto Harbor Water Taxi and Water Taxi Now have partnered up with the Toronto Waterfront BIA to bring the interesting and spooky tales of Toronto Islands‘ past.

After a short video of the island’s history as well as the story of the murder of “John Paul Radelmuller, a housekeeper at Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, your water taxi crew, all dressed in costumes of the early 1900s, takes you to your boat and make you feel as comfortable as you can. When I say “comfortable,” I mean it. The boat ride is ready with cozy blankets and great people to keep you company.
The ride takes you back to a time that you wouldn’t think was real at some point, but I guess that is how history feels like. Toronto Island in the 1900s was so much more compared to what we know now. With the help of 85-year-old gentleman “Jimmy Jones,” the unofficial mayor of the island, you will listen to impressive stories of what the islands were before the deadly Hurricane Hazel and the famous waterfront airport took over.
To show you a better picture of John Paul‘s murder, the ride continues to impress you with a stop at the lighthouse itself where the remains of John Paul were found. After surviving all this craziness, the trip isn’t over until you get your picture of the fantastic Toronto skyline at night, which is, in case you don’t know, the most beautiful scene that Toronto has to offer.
