殘編這週竟在台北第一次活生生地吃到去年2018 FIFA 世足賽發「騷」的小紅星-「克羅埃西亞」的餐點(擦口水)!克羅埃西亞位於地中海的北邊 (義大利的旁邊),是近期年輕人最夯的歐洲旅遊熱點,因為他是一個「狂歡城」。可惜殘編早衰,在義大利讀碩士遊歐洲時早已玩不動。不過這週竟然在台灣從白天到黑夜「歐式狂歡」! 爽啦!

This past week I tried Croatian Cuisine for the first time, in Taipei!
After its outstanding performances at last year’s 2018 FIFA World Cup, Croatia is the new popular topic among all. Croatia is located on the north side of the Mediterranean Sea (next to Italy). In recent years, it has become one of the most popular European destinations among travelers of the younger generation, because of its “party land.” Unfortunately, with premature aging, I was already too old for that “European party lifestyle” when I was traveling in Europe during my Master’s in Milan, Italy.
Who knows, this week at ABV Beer Restaurant, I partied in Taiwan from day to night “European style“! Awesome!
ABV 啤酒餐廳這次新菜單將克羅埃西亞傳統的料理稍做創新變化,融入菜單中,新的特色料理包括將牛排戳洞後把培根、紅蘿蔔、蔬菜塞進去,再搭配ABV餐廳自製的梅乾,火烤的「達爾馬提亞」式牛肉; 加入蛋黃,克羅埃西亞當地很受歡迎的「斯拉夫尼亞披薩」、克羅埃西亞的家常料理「克羅埃西亞式鮮蝦鍋」、克羅埃西亞西部的傳統料理「波德燉魚湯」等,以下殘編為您一一作介紹。但是介紹美食前,我們先來探討一下餐廳和ABV最厲害的精釀啤酒吧!

ABV Beer Restaurant‘s new menu for the season plays a twist on in the traditional Croatian cuisine, the new Croatian menu includes “Pašticada” Dalmatian-style Roast Beef,” where holes are poked on the beef and stuffed with carrots, vegetables, and served with ABV restaurant‘s housemade prune, “Slavonska Pizza” with egg yolk, Croatian home cooking classic, “Croatian shrimp pot“, “‘Brodet’ Croatian Seafood Stew,” a traditional cuisine of the western part of Croatia,and more. We will be introducing each dish in details below; but before food, let’s talk about the restaurant and its pride: Craft Beer (we’re talking about over 300 selections!)
ABV 世界精釀啤酒餐廳&厲害的精釀啤酒 / ABV Beer Restaurant & Its Awesome Beers:
ABV 世界精釀啤酒餐廳 名字其實就是取自 “Alcohol By Volume” (英文「酒精濃度」)的縮寫。ABV引進世界精釀啤酒,是專業的啤酒通路與精釀啤酒餐飲界的領導品牌。
義大利在咖啡店吧台後煮咖啡的不叫「服務生」,叫「咖啡師」(Barista),有專業的咖啡知識並能依客人的喜好調煮咖啡。

The restaurant’s name “ABV” is actually taken from the acronym of “Alcohol By Volume.” ABV imports world craft beer and is a leading professional brand in the craft beer hospitality industry.
In Italy, one who makes and serves coffee is not a “server,” but a “barista,” who has professional coffee knowledge and can brew coffee tailored to each guest.
Every employee at ABV is not just a “server,” but a “craft beer sommelier,” because each of them has a profound knowledge of beer, and can help recommend beer selections complementing each meal.
這篇食記標題已註名「300種啤酒」,殘編再強調一次,ABV店內有來自德國、美國、英國、比利時、荷蘭、希臘、奧地利、法國、南非、匈牙利等,超過30個國家的啤酒與超過300種的精釀啤酒,而且每週會更換30~40種啤酒風味,ABV 開張至今,已引進過超過3000種以上的精釀啤酒。坐在餐廳裡ㄧ個下午帶您遊歐洲,ㄧ個月帶您周遊列國、環遊世界!
歐美早餐喝Mimosa (香檳/氣泡酒 +柳橙汁),下午就開始喝啤酒 ,但台灣人意見多,容易批判週遭的人事物。ABV餐廳從早坐到晚沒有時間限制,也不怕被人亂下評論貼上「標籤」,因為來造訪的饕客,目的都是以酒會友。

The title of this restaurant review already mentioned “300 kinds of beer,” but just let me remind you again, ABV features beer from over 30 countries including Germany, USA, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Austria, France, South Africa, Hungary, and more. Their beer selection includes 300 kinds of craft beer, and they rotate and change 30 to 40 types of beer every week. ABV has carried more than 3,000 craft beers in total. Spend an afternoon in the restaurant for a trip around Europe; give it a month, ABV will take you travel the world!
in Europe and North America, we drink mimosas at brunch. Once passed noon, beer is on the table! However, Taiwanese people judge and criticize others easily. There is no seating time limit at ABV Restaurant; no judgment either, because you know all the diners also came to “cheer” and have a great time! So “cheers” from day to night! You won’t be labeled!
ABV侍酒師來幫我們點啤酒時,問了我們的喜好與甜度,殘編怕甜,所以點「不甜、帶麥香味」的,侍酒師幫我上德國科隆 (Cologne, Germany)的啤酒:「Früh Kölsch」
同桌的美女想要「清淡、微甜」的啤酒,於是侍酒師幫她上比利時系列金黃愛爾 (Belgian Pale Ale):「Battin Extra」
咱們同桌男生想喝「GUINESS」(健力士)黑啤等咄咄逼人的要求,ABV就算沒有也有辦法幫我們變出滿意的啤酒款。
每一款啤酒都有同牌子的專用杯,有比利時酒吧的水準。

When ABV sommelier came to help us with our beer orders, we were asked about our preferences for flavour and sweetness. I’m terrified of sweetness, so I asked for a non-sweet beer, our sommelier picked out a “Früh Kölsch” from Cologne, Germany.
Another girl in our group asked for a light beer with a little bit of sweetness, the sommelier presented the Belgian Pale Ale: “Battin Extra.”
Our boys get aggressive and demand dark beer like “GUINNESS.” No matter what our demands are, ABV always has a way to pick out a beer to please our needs.
All beers are served with its branded beer glass, just like in Belgium!
這道「善解人意」的魚湯料理是克羅埃西亞西部的傳統料理,以「依個人能力消費」PWYC (Pay What You Can)的概念, 以魚類為主,加入其他海鮮或價格不一的料理。 有錢人的人餐桌上食材豐富,但農村、鄉下較「苦力」的餐桌甚至就地取材加入鯰魚、青蛙等;當然,ABV並沒有這麼做,殘編吃到的「波德燉魚湯」是番茄魚湯搭配淡菜跟蝦仁。

This “forgiving” fish soup is a traditional dish from the western part of Croatia. The dish takes on a “PWYC (Pay What You Can)” concept, with fish being the main ingredient. Usually, the rich will include more variety of seafood in the soup, but in the rural and poor areas, the ingredients are sometimes subbed with catfish or even, frogs😱.
Of course, ABV does not do this; our “Brodet” Croatian Seafood Stew” had fish, mussels, and shrimp in a tomato broth.
這道沙拉是北非摩洛哥的經典沙拉,生菜上擺有橙片、核桃,隨附的沙拉醬用鷹嘴豆、核桃、手壓新鮮柳橙汁混合一點香料與橄欖油製成。

This salad is a classic from Morocco. Lettuce is served with orange slices and walnuts. The dressing is made with chickpeas, walnuts, hand-pressed fresh orange juice with a little of spice and olive oil.
克羅埃西亞靠近義大利,歷史上曾被威尼斯共和國統治過, 因此當地料理深受義大利菜的影響。殘編第一次看到披薩加生蛋 便是在義大利,殊不知這次在ABV品嚐克羅埃西亞料理也可以享受到在披薩上切半熟蛋的快感。ABV的「斯拉夫尼亞披薩」餅皮薄脆,比較像脆皮披薩,上面的配料包含會牽絲的起司、黑橄欖、火腿,還有讓人到達「時尚高潮」G點的半熟蛋。

Croatia is close to Italy and was part of the Republic of Venice in history, so local cuisine is heavily influenced by Italian cuisine. The first time I saw pizza with raw egg was in Italy. I didn’t expect to still take pleasure in cutting runny eggs on a pizza in Taipei. ABV‘s”Slavonska Pizza” crust is thin and crispy, with toppings like cheesy cheese, black olives, ham, and the “G-spot” key ingredient: soft-boiled egg.
這是克羅埃西亞的家常料理,滿滿的一大盤鮮蝦簡單加入蒜、巴西里、番茄糊與麵包屑的醬汁稍微烹煮一下即上桌,當地吃法習慣用手直接剝殼吃,這一大盤可以嗑很久,吮指回味。

This is a Croatian home-cooked classic. A large plate full of fresh shrimps is simply cooked with a sauce prepared with garlic, basil, tomato, and breadcrumbs. The local way is to dig in with your bare hands. Its “finger-licking” good!
對小時候在阿拉伯約旦(靠近地中海)待過的殘編而言,這道料理是道地的家鄉味。牛絞肉加上香料做成烤肉串,這還真的要有「睪」頭的人才敢吃:有關中東約旦料理的特色,殘編在這篇食記文章有介紹過喔:
上菜時這道附上黃瓜醬、批塔麵包跟少許高麗菜絲,可以夾著吃。

I grew up in the Arab World and spent 3 of my childhood years in Jordan (near the Mediterranean), so for me, this dish tastes like home. Ground beef is mixed with lots of spices and made into kebab skewers. This item is challenging for those who don’t like spies. When served, this dish is accompanied by cucumber sauce, pita bread and a little cabbage, which can be sandwiched and eaten together.
殘編超愛「吃醋」,越酸越好!原來台語的「醋味」是有根據的,不僅是男女感情關係上,酸豆也在地中海料理中扮演了關鍵的提味角色喔!這道烤雞所搭配的醬是克羅埃西亞達爾馬提亞的酸豆醬,是奶油與酸豆製成的。

I love “sour grapes” or anything “puckering sour”!
Fun fact: “cu” (醋) means both “sour” and “jealousy” in Chinese.
Double fun fact: “cu bi” means “fun/interesting” in Taiwanese, with the word “cu” sharing the same pronunciation as “vinegar” in Mandarin Chinese. Now it all makes sense: a little bit of “sour grapes” and “jealousy not only spices up a relationship between men and women, but the oh-so-sour caper also plays a key role in the Mediterranean cuisine! The dipping sauce for this chicken skewer is prepared with cream and capers, a recipe from Dalmatia, Croatia.
殘編離環遊世界的目標還差150個國家點要踩,ABV地中海餐酒館只要國父紀念館捷運站走50公尺,約三到四個月更新一次菜單,再加上有啤兒當知心旅伴,我想就算殘缺的身體,也能在這達成目標,ABV:殘編環遊世界的小小夢想就靠你門團隊囉!
