The FGI Summer Social: Polo for Heart at the The Gormely Polo Club in Richmond Hill benefiting the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation and Southlake Foundation.

Celebrating its 36th year, Polo for Heart teamed up with FGI (Fashion Group International), a non-profit professional organization and an authority on fashion business, to present world-class polo matches at Canada’s largest charity polo event. It was a warm sunny day filled with luxury events and featured two “friendly” matches between Canada vs. Ireland.

Among the attendees were Anastasia LinMiss World Canada and Canadian Artist Mark Grice, who was on site painting artwork for the silent auction.

Since inception, Polo For Heart has raised over $6 million with proceeds supporting heart and stroke related charities. Last year’s event raised over $200,000.

The three-day polo festival has entertainment on and off the field for all to enjoy and has become a favourite annual summer event for thousands of Canadians.

Proceeds from this year’s event go to the Heart and Stroke Foundation supporting St. Michael’s Hospital‘s research on heart-related diseases and new technology for improved treatment. Proceeds will also support Southlake’s Regional Health Centre Foundation for its expansion of their Heart Rhythm Program.

Polo For Heart welcomed back Lloyd Robertson in his fourth year as the Honorary Chair and five-star luxury hotel Ritz-Carlton hosting the Polo Pavilion, treating guests to a wide array of gourmet food and wine.

FGI co-hosted Sunday’s activities which included an Art Walk, shopping area, fashion shows, a Children’s Village, Mallet Lounge, silent auction, BMO KidZone, live music, a “best hat” competition (reminiscent of “Pretty Woman”) with the time honored tradition of the champagne divot stomp. The halftime show also included a Polo Pony Parade and the Canadian Cowgirls, who put on a great show with their formation riding routines, all best viewed from the Ritz Carlton Polo Pavilion.

“Fashion Group International Toronto was honoured to be involved in our first ever Polo for Heart. Our board member, Anya Nordstrom, was instrumental on forging this partnership with such an incredible institution that is Polo for Heart and the charities it supports. We look forward to growing our relationship in the years to come.” Roger Gingerich, Co-Chair, FGI Toronto.

Other contributors to this event included Mercedes-Benz Downtown, The Grange of Prince Edward Winery, VRG Capital, Cadillac Fairview, York Regional Media Group, Canaccord, TAG Vodka, Mayfair Clubs, Graywood Developments, Norton Rose, Miele, Cameron’s Brewing and Shop.ca.

It was a fantastic day with a little something for everyone!
