The annual Restaurants Canada Show 2019 is coming up and this year’s theme is Sustainability.
We attended the media preview for Restaurants Canada Show 2019 on a cold winter’s day at the Restaurants Canada office located at 1155 Queen Street West. It was a haven for foodies. The RC Show is the biggest foodservice and hospitality event in Canada. Attendees have lots of chance to shop and learn about the new technology used in the hospitality industry, savour & sample delicious food, watch cooking demos, attend workshops and see competitions. Dinner and networking events are offered at the Enercare Centre and other locations.
Restaurants Canada (formerly CRFA) is an expanding group of 30,000 businesses in foodservice including restaurants, bars, caterers, culinary colleges and suppliers. Members all across Canada are connected through services, research, and advocacy creating a strong community. An industry worth more than $89 billion, employing over 1.2 million Canadians makes the restaurant – food service business the biggest source of jobs and serves over 22 million people daily.
At the RC Show Media Preview, Holograms danced around the ceiling and wall at the entry. The atmosphere was excellent. Chefs prepared their selected dishes freshly in front of guests. Samples included Tacos, plant-based sushi, seafood bouchée with Canadian sea scallops, Beyond Sausage – meatless sausage, salads, ‘Meat Has Met Its Match (a plant-based breakthrough). Food counters were set up with delicious and nutritious samples of food and various snacks. Sustainable was the theme. Meatless, vegetarian, healthy and all delicious.
Samples of red or white wine, Seedlips non-alcoholic spirits and beer samples from Mill St. Brewery were served.
Even A&W is now into meatless burger….platters of the A&W’s Beyond Meat Burger were readily snatched up quickly, very quickly! The Beyond Meat Burger is 100% plant-based protein.
Demonstrating an intro into the technology to be shown at the Restaurant Canada show and serving energy ball samples was the Waitress Robot. This Waitress Robot can serve guests for up to 10 hours with its auto re-charge technology and can carry loads up to 33lbs.
